"Purple Passion" Sept 2012- 10.5 Layer cake swap w/a side of Spots & Polka Dots !!!

Swap open for registration until 20th of Sept or until 100 sets filled, whichever comes first.....

Each swapper will submit 12 squares of any 1 (one) UN-washed 100% cotton PURPLE fabric -Must read any shade of Purple !!!! ~~{~@ *( ONLY 100% UN-washed quality Cotton)

In return you will get 12 DIFFERENT squares from 12 different members in the swap...

And the fine print....

Squares should be carefully rotary cut from UN-washed 100% cotton fabric. Keep in mind that your squares could end up in a child's quilt. Select fabrics that will hold up to a lot of love, wear, tears, draggin', cuddlin', washing, and trips through the dryer. Fabrics that fray easily, or are fairly easy to see through are not good candidates for this swap.

Please be advised that fabrics that are NOT square, squares too wonky or too off grain, sqs that are 'shedding threads', squares that contain selvages, or those that are not 10.5 or larger, will be returned unswapped. Yes it is sad, but it has happened.. Anything less than MY 10.5 measurement will be returned. If you are unsure of your accuracy, over-sized squares will be accepted as they can be cut down to size if needed be.... please nothing over 11 inches as they become hard to put in baggies..

Here’s how it works: - In your packet to me you will enclose:

1 gallon size Hefty non pleaded SLIDER bag with 12 ct – 10 1/2 (up to 11) inch squares of ONE fabric for each set

~ Fabric must be UN -washed, ironed and in gallon bags for safe passage thru USPS.

~ Selvages MUST be removed entirely from both ends. Be sure to remove ALL selvage holes.

~ Please remember that each set (baggie) should be cut from a different unwashed fabric

~ 5-6 sets fit in ONE priority flat rate envelope… $6.05 FRE

~ It is aprox 1 yard per 12ct – 10.5 (up to 11I) inch squares - IF your fabric is 44 wide.

~ There is a SIX set limit in this swap plus six (6) optional TWIST(s)

~ INCLUDE your screen name ON your baggies along with SET amounts.

********* Example- I would like to do 4 (four) sets - (4 sets mean that you would send 12 ct – 10.5 (up to 11 inch squares) from FOUR different fabrics for a total of 48 squares) Each set in separate gallon size bag(s) so, written legibly with a sharpie marker or pen, on EACH of my bags will have:

luvTooQuilt X4 (plus 1 twists)

~ You may also include but not mandatory, your real name, mailing address on each baggie, should your envelope be swallowed by the USPS machines for identification purposes (an adhesive return label perhaps.?. )

******* NEW CHANGE ADDED: *********
~Staple a piece of your fabric SELVAGE (with MFG/designer identification) on the baggie...
**** This selvage piece of your fabric is required. Please staple on the outside of the individual baggie for identification purposes… One exception: Batiks - as they do not have printed selvages.. Should you OMIT the selvage, the baggie will be returned unswapped..
http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...7-img_1433.jpg

Also in your package INCLUDE in a sandwich baggie :
~ ONE Sample piece of each of your fabric – (at least 2x3.) Some of you stapled the pieces to a small piece of cardboard/cardstock/paper with an addt’l addy label & board name- (see pic) It is my goal NOT to give you back your fabric square… And this aids me keeping track who sent in what since there are over 100 sets..
http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...mple_setsl.jpg

***** PLEASE NOTE AS OF JAN 22, 2012 THE POSTAGE RATES HAVE GONE UP ****
~ A self-adhesive return address label, and return priority postage OF $6.05... THIS INCLUDES MANDATORY DELIVERY CONFIRMATION....Please remember that if you do not send enough return postage I will hold them until you send the difference. After 30 days, I will donate the unclaimed squares to charity of my choice.

*** DO NOT HIDE POSTAGE IN THE TWIST BAGGIE... ***
I do not look in the baggies, however you may conceal it in any of your MAIN swap baggies..

*** DO NOT mail return SAS envelopes!!!!! Postage ONLY please!!! ***

*** Due to quick turn-around and distance of my bank I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS ***
Postage stamps, USPS money orders or concealed cash (at your own risk) will be accepted as forms for postage/shipping costs..

I would like to have these in hand no later than 9/21/2012. A post mark no later than 9/15/2012 should give the USPS ample time to deliver regular service mail without a grace period. After 09/17/2012 PRIORITY shipping is recommended. After 09/19/2012, Priority Express flat rate OVERNITE shipping ($18) or FedEx, etc. is required.... International members need to send them to me sooner- PM for details.

Please remember that any packages received after 9/21/2012 will be automatically returned unswapped. Any member not fulfilling commitment will not be accepted in any of my future swaps and negative feedback will be posted to members account per Moderators requirements.

I will then sort 9/22-9/26 and hope to mail out squares on or by 9/28/2012–
No later than 10/1/2012

Reminders and swap rules can be found here - http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

just wondering .... I found some pretty purple fabrics in my stash but I know it has been washed (because I wash everything coming into my house). Can I spray starch and iron it before cutting squares?

Hey you LuvTooQuilt do you have me down for this swap? I am work work working and I don't have a clue what I am doing. Sewwwwww make sure I am down for this 6 with 6 twist O Key Doe Key :o)

jaba 09-08-2012 05:57 PM

DoriDes, I haven't heard from her either. Sent an e-mail to the yahoo acct. and PM'd but nothing so far.

quiltingdragon 09-08-2012 06:45 PM

I just found this swap - wish there was more time between when sign up closes and they are due, I could do it if there was another week - but a week for me to find, cut and mail is just too fast for me as I have houseguests until the 24th. I'm sad because purple is my color, and after making a purple quilt for a friend my stash is very low.

Yosamitesa 09-08-2012 06:53 PM

Dori and jaba, give her a few days. She is dealing with a family emergency. As long as you messages her, you should be good.

jaba 09-08-2012 07:21 PM

Yosamitesa, maybe you can tell me. 1st page says purples only, but it doesn't mean just solids does it? As long as the main focus is purples can it have like little pink flowers or little vines or???? but basically purple? That was really my main question.

SheriR 09-08-2012 09:01 PM

Jaba, in her other color theme swaps ith only had to "read" the color or over 50% must be purple.

jaba 09-09-2012 06:32 AM

Perfect, purple is my favorite color and I can always use more of it and make another quilt. I'll have to look what the shelves hold and decide. I should have enough to do some sets.

Yosamitesa 09-09-2012 09:57 AM

Yep. What SheriR said. As long as it "reads" purple you are good. As she says 51% purple.

luvTooQuilt 09-09-2012 05:01 PM

I sent mine in today. I realized after I was headed home from the PO I should have taken pictures!

quiltingdragon 09-13-2012 02:19 PM

I know it says a gallon slider bag, but are the regular gallon ziplocks ok? I already have some and could get my swap ready to go tonight/in the morning if I don't have to run back to the store.

MaryMo 09-13-2012 05:20 PM

and does it have to be Hefty brand?
\

luvTooQuilt 09-13-2012 05:31 PM

The sliders are easiest to stuff and close for transport thru the USPS..
I cannot close the ziplocs to create a water-tight seal...
You can use the regular gallon ziplocks but keep in mind they may not be sealed when they are returned..

I do have swappers who use the reg gallon baggies..
Brands like "hefty, ziplock" does not matter- it was for referrence really.. Any gallon baggie is fine, I do however prefer the slider type ones versus the regular ones.... but again, up to you what you prefer to send them in..

sapdoggie 09-15-2012 07:50 AM

Started packing up the swap - came up one fabric short - :( Don't know how that happened- fabric snitch maybe :p
Will look again and re buy if I need to. Package will be out Monday. It should be there Wednesday or Thursday.

Yosamitesa 09-17-2012 09:01 AM
