Yaaayyyy! Blocks in the mail and each one is a beauty! I have all the blocks from Boom 13 and Repeat 2 laid out for Christmas Sampler quilt. This will be a king quilt. I needed 25 Blocks. I will use the ones with black accents to make a throw! I sincerely hope that the final remaining two participants will get theirs in.....the blocks from this Swap are too beautiful to pass up!

Thanks to everyone who sent theirs in! I will start assembly tomorrow morning at first light! Will post photos when first two rows are together.

And thanks to UrGodsChild2 for a great Swap!

I received my blocks today, they are all beautiful!

urgodschild2 10-30-2014 08:35 AM

Nurse Bonnie has mailed her blocks, finished and unfinished to me. I should get them today or tomorrow. I am still waiting on Groovy to notify me.

urgodschild2 11-02-2014 08:23 AM

SIGH. Ok I have Nurse Bonnie's made and unfinished blocks. So will be mailing out on Monday. Gigiquilt said she doesn't need her fabric back but if it is a block then to send it. Any of the rest of you really have a preference. Also Groovy Pieces has finally sent her blocks to the regular Boom Block swap but not ours. She just sent a note and claims she is in Delaware and won't be able to mail them until the end of this next week. Oh well

The Next RAB3 will be posted in FEBRUARY for sign ups. MAILing fabric to me will be due March 1st. I will mail them out to all that join. The due date will be July 1st to return the finished blocks. Hope a lot of you come back.

I will certainly try for the next one. We are going to be putting the house up for sale around that time so I may not be able to participate. It will just depend on the whims of the housing market, the military, and life in general.

Elisabrat 11-02-2014 10:09 AM

I will be in also. a fun swap and certainly challenging. I hope that next time people consider maybe a block that is easy and one that is harder. some of these blocks were 6 rows half squares and truthfully that was hard to keep those points in. I know I put easy and harder blocks to quilt in mine keeping in mind everyone quilts at a different level. I wonder is this a quilt swap for expert quilters only? if so then I don't think I can keep up.

Christmas Sampler Quilt on the Design Wall

Fellow Swappers,

We are finally settling in after the move. My sewing room is coming back together and I have a new design wall...nice addition....thanks to my son! Had to post a photo of Quilt No. 1. This is the Christmas Sampler Quilt. It will be a king, so I needed 25 blocks with borders. I have one more to make before I start sashing. Blocks that were made with the black background fabric will be used in Quilt No. 2. Hope to post those next week.

I have made changes to the final layout.....they are all beautiful! The blocks from both Swaps, RAB2 and Jade 2 will complete both quilts! I will post pictures of finished quilts. My heartfelt thank you to each of you! I have learned so much....especially about making blocks with many 2" pieces" No more of that....I promise.

Yes, I will sign up for the next RAB in February. I am thinking about a scrappy "Jacob's Ladder" quilt.
Hope your holidays are full of many blessings and hope for good things to come in the new year.

I have been blessed by your acquaintance and will always be reminded of you each time I see these blocks.

More photos coming,
Bee Beatty

I would love that Christmas quilt wow there are some very hard blocks in there! going to be absolutely lovely when finished.

I wanted to let you know I received my blocks back and thank you for all you did to make this happen! To the members who made my blocks thank you from the bottom of my heart. they are lovely and will go beautifully in my baby quilt! one down 5 more to go.. yikes.

urgodschild2 11-03-2014 02:59 PM

Ok I mailed everyone their individual blocks from Nurse Bonnie. I was going to mail them in the white office envelopes but it was going to cost $2.32. Sigh it use to be $1.10. So I put them in the padded brown envelops for the same $2.32 cents price, except for Kelly's because she already had a brown envelop. I have notified Nurse Bonnie the cost of mailing everything and until I see that money, I am not mailing her blocks to her. Groovy Pieces has been told about the cost and she did mention that she will be back in town by this Thursday and will hopefully mail by the weekend. Gigi was the only one who did not want her fabric back if it was not a finished block as she has lots of that material. He bloc was not finished. Most of our blocks were finished. Bonnie did send the material she chose to finish the blocks. Onward to Sign ups in February. I will be back from down under at that time.

Jane, I love that.

giquilt 11-04-2014 09:13 AM

Jane I love the blocks. It is a great example of how the block looks different with a change in color value.

UrGodsChild2,

Please sign me up for the Swap in February! You have my info. Haven't received block from Nurse Bonnie yet! And read back through posts, so will not expect Groovey Pieces until I her from you. I am sewing rows together now....loving these blocks!

Nelco 11-10-2014 10:12 PM

received block and fab from you from Nurse Bonnie.

And yes sign me up for Feb. swap.

urgodschild2 11-12-2014 04:41 PM

Bee Beatty, I sure hope that nurse bonnie's gets to you. I just mailed them like reg. mail. No tracking. Whoops.
Do not hold your breath on getting the other one.

UGC2,

Received Nurse Bonnie's Block today!...and I have to say it is a perfect addition to the Christmas Sampler Quilt. The quilt really needed more red and it came as I was sewing the last rows together! Thank you..nurse Bonnie.

Put me down for the next RAB in February. I have been working on my block making skills and they are coming up 12 1/2 pretty consistently! I learned what works for me when making "2" finished squares is to cut them at 2 5/8" not 2 1/2". When I am making half square triangle squares, I cut them 1 inch bigger than they will finish. After sewing together, I trim them to 5/8" bigger than they will finish. Seems to be working.

Loving this quilt!

Thank-you Nurse Bonnie, your block will go nicely with my other blocks and blocks I will add to these to make a twin size quilt. I received my block from you earlier this week. Again thank-you very much.

jclinganrey 11-14-2014 09:08 PM

I received my fabric from Nurse Bonnie. Thank you.

Elisabrat 11-22-2014 05:49 AM

I have my fabric back from nurse bonnie she was able to cut the pieces out of the block which is helpful. I truly understand life happens. I finished my third surgery in one week and it has worn me out. worse yet it didn't solve the problem of opening up my port so now I am on plan b. just not sure what that will be. I am getting a new doctor with a new idea at a new hospital so my options maybe are better. Crossing fingers and toes. about all I have energy for! one piece at a time. I still look forward to another swap this is a great group to work with and love the challenges that come to me. except those hard blocks lol I dread those a whole lot! lol. sorry but its true! the samples shown are great and wonderful to see. I should take a pic of mine to show you how cool it is. lots of kitties came back in this swap and they pair beautifully with the other blocks. a nice sashing and it is one great baby quilt! need more so now to find the fabric.. thinking monkeys will work. love that fabric its white pink and aqua. I know another baby girl quilt but trying to find a boys fabric I like as much. so far not so much luck. soon I will find it I know it!

terriamn 11-22-2014 09:46 PM

I would like to sign up for the Feb. swap and Elisabrat I haven't chose my block yet but I promise it will not be a hard one, thinking Greek Cross or Perpetual Motion but have been know to change my mind quite easily

urgodschild2 12-02-2014 12:06 AM

Hey everyone,
I received the last set of blocks from our missing person. I will be sending you back your material and it looks like only one block was done for one person.

Barb

Elisabrat 12-03-2014 05:05 PM

Barb its ok. I am thankful for all that you have done for us. Hoping you find the energy to do this again. I know its overwhelming for you to do this and then end up with .. the troubles you get. Its unfair. Next swap please ask for a donation for angel mailings if needed. you can always stuff .50 back in the envelopes if you know it all works out but wouldn't it be nice to have that up front? food for thought. Everyone would donate I know they would.

giquilt 12-21-2014 12:07 AM

What will be the name of the swap in Feb?

urgodschild2 12-22-2014 06:07 PM

sorry I haven't been checking to see if people have been signing in here. Been busy with life. LOL. The next swap will start in February and it will be called RAB #3.

Merry Christmas to one and all and hope the New Year is a good one.

Barb

Nelco 12-23-2014 05:14 PM

guess I better start thinking what block I would like made. What I really need to do is put all the blocks together that I have gotten from the last 2 swaps.

Happy New Year to everyone! I haven't checked in for awhile. My NE resolution is to finish my UFO's!!! I actually made a list and, not counting tops to be quilted, I have 16. That's a lot for me!

Anyway, I've finished two so far and am working away at the blocks from this Boom. I have rows sewn together so far. My original plan was to sew the rows together but matching the blocks is not working out well. I'm thinking of a thin row of sashing between each row. Thoughts??

I'd love to see everyone else's progress.

Jane

maryb119 01-04-2015 08:54 AM

Sashing between the blocks would be pretty. Maybe green or blue would work.

jclinganrey 01-04-2015 12:40 PM

I decided to 'go for broke' and sew them together as is. My concern was matching the points of blocks that were - uh hem - not the same size.
I'll post a picture once my phone decides to actually 'send' the pic to my email, etc.

I think a small, 2 1/2" border all in the snow white and that will be it.

Jane,

This is my Christmas Sampler Quilt that I made with blocks from this Boom and Boom 13 blocks. I also have a second throw I am finishing from blocks made from both groups as well. This is a king quilt, so I sashed with 4 inch white on white to match block background. I will sash the Christmas throw with 3 inch inch WOW.

Thanks for swapping with me everyone! Will post pics of second quilt when finished.
Thanks Bee
