Hey, barb! Where in New England?

urgodschild2 12-01-2013 08:03 AM

Massachusetts, New Hampshire. I lived in MA as a child. I love the little town feel and the changing seasons.

Also Part of my heart is in Melbourne, VIC Australia as I have three grandkids there.

I don't paper piece, I hate doing three star blocks or greater so I might end up having to make something out of my league and it might end up not in the best shape which would not please anyone.

Wish you luck.

It seems to be the very same swap as the revised Boomerang -- except you tell them which block to use, making it even more restricted.

I myself do better with paper piecing for most blocks as ones with many pieces end up wonky...as you said, to each their own.

I wish the mail tracking requirement wasn't part of the rules...how would we get this to be revisited and revised?

Each person that mails a F8 or finished block should know up front that you are at the mercy of the mailing gremlins and take that chance at your own risk and agreement. I have a feeling that larger envelopes (containing all of your blocks) will be missing more easily than a small one will. (containing only 1 block).

Again good luck and best wishes.

I have had several people ask for a swap like this so I decided to start one. I didn't realize the restrictions until I read the regular boom swap. But it doesn't seem so bad to me as it is just like doing some of the other swaps I have been in. In those you get all your blocks at one time and I have never had one lost. But I understand how everyone is feeling. I am excited for this group as we will have a beautiful quilt all ready to assemble and that will be fun.
I hope all are having a great time this morning getting ready for the holidays. I am trying to get some quilting done before then. The crunch is on.

Here is another question -- If I like a block and it has 3 colors do I send one out and the rest will put in the other 2? (Also I will let them know what colors to use)

urgodschild2 12-04-2013 08:23 AM

I think that could be negotiated with the group. It sounds ok with me but we would have to see what the others think when we get our 12 members. Right now we have 3 but we are not starting until February and some people may not want to commit until January comes along.
