I've been chatting via PMs with PaintmeJudy. We have an idea I think on what to make each other. :)

It will be fun.

Rhonda 08-01-2011 02:06 PM

Looking forward to pictures!!

BonniFeltz 08-01-2011 02:10 PM

Yeah, by the time I'm done doing it I should have figured out what angle and how far away so that it looks like everything meets up. (grins).

klgreene 08-01-2011 02:15 PM

Someone on this board, and I don't remember who, said....."Hang the quilt on your neighbors house, ride by on a horse and if you can't see the mistakes it's ok". I really liked that quote,

BonniFeltz 08-01-2011 02:20 PM

oh, that's a GREAT quote. Don't have a horse but I have a car and my neighbor even has a tree house. That could be fun.

Have you chosen a quilt block yet?

I've narrowed it down to 4. Well my partner and I listed the blocks we thought we could do. Then we told which of those lists we liked. So it is narrowed down to about 4.

Now sit down Rhonda (and Shel).....

My list that I said I could do included WINGS. I will either be doing one of the wing blocks or one of the half square triangle blocks. Won't way which because that way it will be a surprise for my partner.

Beautiful block! Maybe someday I'll get brave and try one of those.

Miriam, your blue and yellow is coming out nicely. I think you'll like it. The yellow really spices up the block.

Yes it is beautiful.

Mom-6 - don't worry Mom-6. If I an do it so can you. There are plenty of options to start out slow and if you need help we're all here.

PokerDiva 08-03-2011 08:58 AM

peevypat, your block will be in the mail today. I thought it turned out well. Hope you like it. I almost didn't want to part with it. LOL

The drunkard's path takes a little time because you have to let the circles dry but it is easy to do. I am thinking I need to do a tutorial on doing a 12 1/2" quilt block so people can see how easy it really is.
The only circle sewing is to sew a 3 1/4" yoyo onto a background. I just sew slowly(You can sew at a creeping speed) and turn it as I go. It really really isn't hard.

I do have a bookmark tutorial showing the process but if you say mini some people tune out.

klgreene 08-03-2011 10:00 AM

hehehe that's me "Mini". Although after I did mom 6'b block, I thought I had better do the drunkards path block to see how it turns out. It turned out great. Not hard, and I sat watch the baseball game with DH instead of in separate rooms. But I messed up somewhere because it turned out to small for 12 1/2. But I'll make something out of it. You know I will.

peevypat 08-07-2011 01:07 PM

Poker Diva,
Was gone Friday and Sat. but to my surprise it was here when I got home late Sat. evening. It is beautiful. I love it. It will be next week before I can get started on yours. Did you post a picture of it before you mailed it? I'll do it when I get mine finished and ready to mail. Again thanks a lot.
Pat Peevy

Very pretty! Interesting print combinations. I would never have thought of putting those together.

BonniFeltz 08-07-2011 01:45 PM

Nice! Still deciding on which colors to use. I'll make the deadline though. :)

PokerDiva 08-07-2011 02:32 PM

You don't think those fabrics go together? She said she liked greens and browns. That fabric that looks gray in the picture is really green and there is some orange in the background although it doesn't look like it.

I didn't mean it didn't look good. I just wouldn't have put such busy prints together. but that is just me. I think when others do things I wouldn't think to do I learn from it. I think you have great contrast and nothing blends so that makes it work fine. I like to see others way of mixing and matching. It is interesting to see how other quilters think about color and combining them.

You did an excellent job! It wasn't my colors but I am trying to expand my color thinking anyway. Good experience for me to see how you think. That is one of the things I get out of this swap!!

This is the block I mailed to my partner, BonniFeltz. Her color choices were blue and more blue. It looks as if we are posting pictures of blocks we sent, so that is what I have done.

Bonnie, it went in the mail on Friday. Hope it will work for you, and that you like it

Bonnie is clapping her hands with glee. I...LOVE...IT! That is so pretty!!!

I am working on yours. :) It's still a secret at this point though since I don't have the fabrics totally picked out. Hey, at least I picked out which block. THAT helps. LOL. It should still be done on time though. :)

PokerDiva 08-07-2011 04:04 PM

That's ok. I just know that when I post a picture the colors don't always look as they are.

I love Batik's and I don't think any batik doesn't look good with another. No matter what the color. And I like The blues in Bonni's block. I just think they are all so pretty. Makes me want to make quilts in all the different colors. I'm trying... lol

Love the blues! Very nicely done!

BonniFeltz 08-08-2011 08:13 AM

Homecaregiver received my block for her today, and I'm going to post the picture for her. She liked it, I'm happy. I didn't put as much contrast around the edges because I wanted the star in the middle to stand out. She likes stars

Looks great Katie!! Love blues!

BonniFeltz 08-08-2011 03:34 PM

Looking Good!

PokerDiva 08-11-2011 12:32 PM

Been awful quiet on this thread. Everyone working very hard on their blocks?

peevypat 08-11-2011 07:47 PM

Trying to get everything else done so I can sew on my block.
For instance, today was at the cemetary at 10:15 (they were setting my husband's tombstone) had an appointment for
mammogram at 1:30 and a DAR planning committee meeting at 3:30. So goes my life.

paintmejudy 08-12-2011 10:24 AM

Hee hee, we can only hope, Florence!!

To answer an earlier question of yours, I forgot to write down the name of the block I made for BonniFeltz.

I, for one, would like to see everyone post the name of the block when they post the picture.

klgreene 08-12-2011 10:57 AM

I usually try to remember to put the name up. My block on page 5 to Homecargiver, is Maisie!

Hi everybody:

I finished my block for Judy today and she said I could post the picture. It is Della, week 15. She choose either that one or Charlotte week 26 but the materials I had on hand worked better with Della. I WAS going to do a wing block but the materials on hand didn't work out and money had to go to bills this time around.

Hope you like it. It's prettier in person than this pix shows. My camera as well as the camera on the cell phone doesn't like me sometimes. :)

klgreene 08-13-2011 09:10 AM

Very pretty. I agree the colors don't show up as pretty when I take pictures. But it's still pretty.
