I think you can make it however you want to. An example might be the 4 different seasons or a flower where each block is the same, such as a petal of the flower, but together, they make the whole flower.

Am I suppose to use 4 different blocks in the wall hanging or can they all be the same?

You can do what ever you like with the quilt blocks. They don't even have to be the same size or same anything. The only real requirement is that you use 4 quilt blocks but they can be any style any size anything you want to use. You can add more quilt blocks if you like and you can add any kind of sashing or embellishments or anything you can think of to make it more creative. It's all up to you.

Kif, have you heard of the book "Keep your mouth shut and wear beige" bt Kathleen Gilles Seidel. It is about the mother of the groom and it is a real funny book. My wonderful quilting buddy and total best friend gave it to me.
My son is also getting married this year, maybe October but date not set yet! Don't they know that I have to know how much time I have to do Stuff! LOL, I am going to make them a double wedding ring quilt, and that alone will take me a really long time! I told my DIL to be she might see it by their golden Anniversary if she is lucky! I also opened my big mouth and said I would make her dress! But I really don't mind as she is such a sweetie and will not turn into a Bridezilla. I haven't heard of that particular book, but had heard of the saying...as a matter of fact I told ds and dil to be when I was looking for my dress to wear that I had heard the mother of the groom is supposed to wear beige and be quiet...lol...my ds bless his "darling" ;) heart replied, "Well at least you can do one of those mom.". Meaning I can't be quiet!! I replied, "Well, I don't look good in beige!"...We all had a big laugh!! I hear ya on getting everything done...I keep "volunteering" to do things, too...but like you, I know they both appreciate everything, and we are so thrilled about the wedding and all! I am finishing a version of this quilt for them..I am using beiges, browns, and blacks as the colors, and dil to be loves stars, so I am using star fabrics, too...I hope to post a pic when I have it finished, here is the link: http://www.free-quilting.com/images/...large/3297.jpg Take care, Kif |
I am going to go buy my fabric today for my wall hanging. I got me a part-time job as a sewer to make money to fund my quilting habit. All the money that I make will be used to buy fabric and so forth.

Well the crowd of participants is turning out to be good. I bet if I look in my UFOs, I got a wall hanging out there that would be great to use for this swap. yes, you will get one of my UFOs since I want to participate. Now, don't everyone step back, they have been nice just go check out the UFO challenge thread which i believe a couple of names visit there. So put me on the list. Love getting two birds with one stone and a reason to finish another UFO.
|
i don't see a problem with that! i'm sure it will be very nice. glad to have you join us!:)
|
Hmmm...still trying to decide what wall hanging I want to make...Just so you'll know Rhonda, that I haven't totally spaced out on this swap!! With ds wedding coming up in 3 weeks, and my lqs "Shop Hop" is 2 weeks after the wedding, I have "volunteered" myself to do so much for both occasions...what was I thinking??!!...LOL...At least it is happy and fun stress!!..said as I am being led off in the straight jacket to the tune of that old song "They're coming to take me away...to the funny farm!!..."
Regards all, Kif |

My block, it is called California, from the quilters Cache. Only I made it a little different, I appliqued the black squares on. I am going to do a few more embellishments to it when I do the other blocks. This block is 12.5 inches.

That is a great start on your wall hanging!! I am sure as you progress it will get better and better! And this is getting exciting now! Love the pictures!! Hope we see more from everyone!

I will pick one out tonight while the embroidery machine is working on daughter's UFO that needs finished before she has my hide. Then I will photo and post for you. Hmmmmm, which one. Since it has to be four blocks, then can't use one that is a full wall hanging pattern so that eliminates the John Flynn one I have cut out and ready. I have several cut out and ready to sew. OCD on cutting out fabric, but I am getting under control.
|
i can show you a picture of one of the patterns, but it won't be the colors i'm planning to use. would that help?

Here are some choices that came to mind on what I have to get done. Chose not to do the pineapple block because I just can't get to it mentally. So lets see which one of these I am motivated to do. Have had the cow wallhanging cut up for oh 8 or 9 years, the wedding ring one about the same, the drunkard path about 3 years, and the ladies about 8 or 9 again. Not sure what happened. I just got excited about doing things and then left them.
|
hmmmmm, the only ones i can make out are the cows and the ladies. both look good. glad i'm not choosing! that would be too hard!
|
It'll be interesting to see what you go with QuilterMomma! Thanks for showing us the pictures!
|
It is more of which one do I really want to work on.

Then shake the bowl to mix them up and draw a name. Then this is the quilt you will make. I do this when I cannot decide on which quilt or project to do. |
I have my wall hanging designed and the fabric picked out that I am going to use. I will take some pictures of the fabric that I am using today. I have not started yet because I have had my grandkids every weekend. However, I do plan on at least getting my fabric pieces cut out today after the grandkids go home, so that I can sew them together this week.
|
I have narrowed it down to two of them. have not worked on them yet, I have five quilts to get quilted, my modern swap quilt and two DQs to quilt and do binding on. So with those first this week to hit my 10 UFOs, will put this on back burner. I will do either the ladies shopping buddy quilt or the cow wall hanging. The other two just seem to be screaming table runners to me instead. I know I have enough cut up for the cow wall hanging and I have enough plaids to finish it up with no worries and I have some warm fun fabric for the ladies in my stash. I just have to embroidery them. So I think I will work on those two in July for my finishes. So off and running we gooooooooooooooooooooo.....................

I have ideas running around in my head but haven't really decided yet. I like to do applique but I also like my miniatures. So not sure. I love hearts and I like to applique them. I also have several fabrics for Dresden Kaleidoscopes and I was playing with that the other day. Just not sure yet. I do need to get a focus going so I can start on it tho
|
I only saw a couple of your dresden kaleidoscope quilts. That one sounds like it could be interesting. The DQs I made this month had the stack n whack kaleidoscope are the dresden much different?

Here is the doll quilt I made of the doll quilt swap. It was to represent Iowa so I used corn fabric. Then the quilt design I did on EQ as an idea I might try. I have a couple more ideas I had played with. The last two are a couple of my favorite DKs |
That is so making the fabric work for you.
|
rhonda-- no need to tell you those are gorgeous!! i bought a dresdan ruler but have not even an inkling where i put it away!lol someday it will magically re-appear! i can't compete with those but i do have a series of cat pieces i think will make wonderful parts of a wall hanging. i wonder how many cat people are in this group?
|
Just checking in to make chatter. Anyone get your block done for June? I think mine will come in July.
|
I like the ladies.
