We are still working on it. My instructions are long and Mariposa and I are sifting thru them.

travelinggramma 06-17-2016 03:29 PM

thank you both for all the work ...it is appreciated

ILoveToQuilt 06-17-2016 04:22 PM

Just a couple of thoughts....

1) If there are numerous Canadian members interested, would it be cheaper (postage wise) for them to have their own robin? I don't want this to sound like I am excluding anyone...please, no offense meant, just thinking of the $$$ aspect.

2) When I last did a row robin, the rules stated only the width of the row, nothing else. (We had 6 members in our group). We each made a row, and enclosed some of our favorite fabric that we had used in our row, and a brief note about why we chose that particular theme (block, colors, etc.). Each person could add a piece of fabric to be used and added to the note. When we got our tops back, we had 6 coordinated rows along with their "story".

Whatever is decided, robins are a lot of fun to participate in. Thank you to QuilterMomma and Mariposa for helping to get this started. Not sure if I will join yet, but will watch this thread closely.

Mona G 06-17-2016 04:37 PM

I've done an international Robin before and would be willing to do so again.

oldcatlady 06-18-2016 01:56 PM

I'm interested also. I did a row robin before and everyone came through so it was a good experience. I'm also willing to mail either way. If there are some who only will join if they can mail individually I'd be willing to join that group so everyone who wants to participate can. Would it be too confusing to have groups doing it different ways?

Evie 06-22-2016 07:59 AM

After a "talk" with Mariposa, I think I'd be interested in doing this. I know Mariposa is a great hostess, so it should be easy to follow. I'll keep following this thread to see what comes next.

dungeonquilter 06-25-2016 11:52 AM

I would be interested in doing either a row or round robin. I think it would be a great idea if all us Canucks were in the same group.

mmonohon 06-29-2016 09:35 AM

I would love to join in.

Judith1005 06-29-2016 10:29 AM

I will be watching to see how you organize this. I participated in a round Robin that I enjoyed very much. It ended very successfully. I would consider joining again depending on the organization and rules. They really are so much fun!

Mona G 07-02-2016 11:09 AM

looking forward to this row/round robin. I think someone already mentioned instead of doing 5 12" blocks that it could also be just a 60" row instead, if I go with the bookcase idea then I like the thought of this option.

lynnie 07-06-2016 02:53 PM

Anna and Mona, beautiful quilts from both of you. excellent work on putting different sizes together. it's always a fun challenge to do that.

QuilterMomma 07-07-2016 08:50 AM

Agreed Mona on the 60" row. That is what I did in another row robin when she did a bookcase. Makes it really fun.

Mona G 07-09-2016 07:21 AM

I think I will start my bookcase row today, any helpful hints?

Muse&Sew 07-09-2016 01:16 PM

So what exactly is a bookcase row?

Kassaundra 07-09-2016 01:39 PM

They are quilts made to look like bookcases, w/ books and other quilted knick knacks and dustables you don't have to dust on the shelves, even beloved pets. Google book shelf quilts and you will see a ton. People who are in fandoms make many w/ their favorite sci fi or fantasy show theme.

Kassaundra 07-09-2016 01:41 PM

If I made a bookshelf quilt I have a PP TARDIS that would have to go on one shelf!!!! lol

ibex94 07-09-2016 02:08 PM

No need to send swatches to one another, just head to Lowe's and pick out the colors via paint chip numbers and email that info to everyone. I learned about that working with Bonnie Hunter mystery quilts... not my idea.

oldcatlady 07-10-2016 12:14 PM

Are we still planning on doing this? The rr I was in also sent along extra fabric pieces that was used in the row that person did so it could be used or not in future rows. It did help pull everything together. I also would prefer sending to each participant so I could see the rows in person. It just seems too complicated the other way. I probably was burned more than anyone else in a swap but I am still willing to send to each other. I was in the quilt for quilters swap and did NOT get a quilt! I'll trust you until you show me otherwise. If we are not doing the swap I would be willing to do one with a group of you on the side. Will be watching. :)

Mona G 07-10-2016 04:38 PM

I think it is still a go, just trying to get the details ironed out.

Mariposa 07-12-2016 12:41 PM

Still wanting to do this- just working on the details, etc. :):) If anyone has some good ideas or such, feel free to send me a PM. :)

Ripped on Scotch 07-14-2016 06:46 AM

I think i have the original IRR rules still that were emailed out. would you like a copy?

Sure, that would be great. Please send me a PM. :)

I'd be interested in being in a round robin, to mail to the same person once a month-- to be in a group of 5 or 6 participants, where the last month you would receive back the top that has grown from your original block that you mailed out. I sent some ideas about that to Mariposa...
I'm not interested in a row by row.
I prefer not to mail back and forth to a hostess, but rather to just mail directly.

Thank you for saying this. You stated my thoughts too. I would prefer a round robin and I don't care for a row by row quilts.

oldcatlady 07-17-2016 04:04 PM

I've thought about doing a round robin but I'm afraid I'm not creative enough. I think I might panic when I received a top and not know what to do!

its so long I can't just PM it to you but i did send you one asking for your email address so I can email it to you

givio 07-18-2016 06:51 AM

oldcatlady, people here could give you suggestions... It's always fun to look at posted pictures, and they can give lots of ideas.

vovoa 07-18-2016 07:38 AM

I would love to do another round robin. I'm in if this comes together!

givio 07-23-2016 08:32 AM

Ok girls, I've posted a new thread about a Round Robin-- if you want to check it out, please do!

mim 07-23-2016 09:34 AM

I would love to join one -- My avatar is a round robin border exchange that I did with quilters in 5 foreign countries. Some of the RRs were wall hangings, others were full size quilts. The full size quilts started with a center block and others added to the quilt. One RR was asymmetrical borders. -- only 2 sides added by each person. That was a memory quilt of my China trip.

The Imagination that we each added was lots of fun and over the year (we had 2 months to add and ship) we all became good friends.

Mim

PS I will look up pix and post them

Here are some of the RRs that I have been in. All of them were with quilters in Other countries.

Oh, mim! Wonderful. I love them going on point. It must be that each addition size was at the discretion of the sewer?

Mona G 07-24-2016 03:03 AM

Looks like there is a round robin started... awesome. Do we have enough interest for a row robin also? I'd like to do a row but if no leader than I will join the round.

Mona~ I'd personally like to wait until spring for doing a row robin. Now that a round robin has been posted, I hope that folks will have fun with that! (I don't want to have competition and/or mix-ups between the two.)

Jupiter 07-26-2016 09:09 AM

I would like to be in a row robin. Round robins get to be too much to do when the last rounds are being done.

Sounds good, keep me posted on sign ups

Mona G 11-05-2016 08:27 AM

Is there still interest in a row robin after the first of the year? I can help coordinate I just can't take the lead at this point.

Plumtree 11-05-2016 09:22 AM

This would be so much fun :-)

lynnie 11-07-2016 08:49 AM

Mim, your quilts take my breath away!!! each one is prettier than the next. Such creativity from so many quilters. It's jst amazing how they all turned out. Wonderful ideas!

NZquilter 11-10-2016 10:05 AM

I'm interested in maybe doing a row robin next year.
