Yes ma'am thats the way I'm going to do it, but of course on the labels that would be up to the individual

so the intention is to send a big block, which will have room for everyone's info on it, to use as a label on the back, and then also send four "regular" siggies, and each person will keep one?

Short an Sweet 01-14-2011 06:18 PM

I am still looking for something to represent Australia, but I'm not having much luck lol

mainly I just wasnt sure that we wanted them sent any earlier than the 1st, so anytime between the 1st and 15th is fine

Short&Sweet, here is a preview of the fabric for your row. Some of the colors are a little off, like the red is actually more muted than it looks and the orange is a little more orangey than it looks.

for S&S's row

Don't forget, even if you're not doing a journal, if you want borders on your rows you need to send the fabric, precut and ready to put on. If you don't want your rows sewn together, just sent by individual rows, please send a note regarding that also. If a journal is sent with a row, please read it, that is where the wishes for their rows will be.

I haven't decided if I am doing borders at this point, but my journal does state the orientation (vertical) that I would like for my rows. I am going to space the blocks out, with borders, on my design wall, next week and try to figure out the border question.

I know craftphanatic is ready to mail, and I also will be ready to mail on the first. Don't forget you have until the 15th, so if you need a little more time, make sure you let the person you are sending to know (by PM) and if you would drop me a line and let me know also.

Happy Sewing
hope you all have a great week

craft phanatic 01-18-2011 06:24 AM

Oops, forgot all about buying a journal! Better get on that. As long as we don't get more snow or ice dumped on us here on the first, I will be mailing mine then.

Robbi24 01-18-2011 07:12 PM

Ok ladies what do you consider a journal to be and what size so I can get one also. Working a lot and I lost one of my fabrics (----) I think the gremlins took it, lol, going to LQS tomorrow as I have a class called Christmas Pickles (what was I thinking) so I will pick up more of the green then and will sew over the weekend and will be ready to finish Tues on my sewing day. (Hopefully) ha ha.

Short an Sweet 01-18-2011 07:16 PM

I just bought a small notebook, even a little spiral will work, I know some people don't really like to write, so just your name and when you worked on the row is fine, but if you have a suggestion for the next person, you could write that down in the book, or if you wanted to send a message to me, you could write that in there. lol just remember each person will be reading it. Also put any instructions in there that you want passed on. Some may only put a note on their row with directions as far as placement and what not. no hard and fast rule

Short an Sweet 01-20-2011 05:13 PM

well, hopefully I can get my embroidery machine to work right tomorrow (my bobbin keeps jamming up), so I can get my labels made, I am going to remake the one block and then put my row together, would it be a pain for everyone if I sent the precut fabric for a border around my "blocks" instead of my just my rows? Of course if you're only doing 1 block for the row (12.5 X 60) then you would only add the border along the top and bottom lol.
anyway just let me know what ya'll think

not sure what this means (and I am tired now) but write it in the journal and maybe draw a pic of it so it makes sense, of course I will not recieve your row first so that will help (did any of this make sense?) lol

Short an Sweet 01-20-2011 07:40 PM

yes it made sense, and all I was doing was asking all of ya'll's permission to put more work on ya'll by adding border between the blocks and between the rows also, lol ya'll think about it for a while we have till the 15th. Get some sleep and have an awesome weekend!!

I think so too from the pics, block 2 done , 3 & 4 are pieced and ready to applique tomorrow and working on cutting out last block.

Short an Sweet 01-24-2011 03:07 AM

can't wait to the blocks and the row all laid out. I'm remade one of mine but still not "happy with it, luckily I had cut out 2 different ones, so I will sew up the last one and then I will put them all together, I can't believe we're almost ready to start "swapping"

Shew! I thought mine would not be as nice because it was printed instead of stitched. I actually think they came out quite nice though with the different fonts! Look out Robbi.....here it comes!

Great maybe I'll do that too as my embroidery machine has been kind of cranky lately, I think it needs a good cleaning lol, and not able to at this time. Thanks

craft phanatic 01-24-2011 05:02 PM

I was quite impressed with the printable fabric. I'm curious to see how a picture will come out on it.

Short an Sweet 01-24-2011 05:34 PM

just make sure you get the washable fabric, I picked up the dry clean only fabric, so I think I'm just going to pick up some freezer paper and do my own fabric

aha, I finally found something to represent Australia!!!!!! it will be appliqued and embroidered but I FOUND SOMETHING lol,
So for the other ladies that will be getting Sarah's row, I plan on doing my row representing 4 of the "A" continents, Africa, Anarctica, Asia, Australia and the final one will be just "travel" in generalI will email pics to each of ya'll b4 I send it (of course I know, I have to get it first) Sarah would prefer to be surprised when she gets it, so I won't be posting any pictures of it here on the board just in PM's

Short an Sweet 01-25-2011 07:06 AM

is there anyone else who does NOT want to see their row b4 it comes back to them? Me, personally, I want to see mine as it progresses, I want the pictures so I can do a scrapbook of my very first Row Robin. Make sure you send a NOTE or add it to your JOURNAL if you DO NOT want to see your top as it progresses. Mailing time is getting close. Get with your "send to" partner to see if there are shipping preferences. My initial plan is to send in a small box with delivery confirmation, with minimum insurance. Some may want signature confirmation (if they have a problem with proper mail delivery), anyway don't forget to communicate with the one you are receiving from (ie: questions regarding the row you've just received), the one you are shipping to (ie: questions regarding the rows you are sending, any problems you had that might be an issue for others also) and of course the originator of the row that you are actually working on (ie: questions regarding the vision they have for their row or the direction they want it to go in) and ladies don't forget to read the journals and notes (if sent) reading first could save problems later lol. Also write in the journals or add notes, even if it's just your name. Sign the labels, if sent, if individual siggie blocks are sent, feel free to take ONE.
Happy Row sewing
Veronica

P.S. sorry I get so long winded, just excited that the real fun is fixing to begin lol

craft phanatic 01-25-2011 07:22 AM

Okay, just walk out of PO. Get ready Robbi. Since it was my own row I just sent it with delivery conformation. I will get ins. on everyone else's row. I have to send my labels seperate because I looked and the printable fabric was dry clean only. I wanted Robbi to have it for the weekend so I just shipped the row and journal.

What procedure is that? I'll have to do that to mine.

Short an Sweet 01-26-2011 06:57 PM

I rebought mine today, because the ones I hd gotten were dry clean only, the new ones you have to Heat set with an iron and then rinse in cool water and lay flat to dry, dab up excess water and then heat iron again (no steam)and then they should be good to go, I have done step 1 will do the rest tomorrow

I'll have to go get some washable kind too. I already sent my row. I told Robbi that I would send my siggy blocks seperately so she doesn't have to wait.
