Qbee...as you wish, here is a picture of all 3 rows together..The flowers are machine embroidery...I think they look great together. I am glad that you like it....the first row I make you can use whatever way you wish...
Nancy...the block is called Air Castle and I got it out of "quick & Easy Block Tool"...........it's a small flip chart of blocks, that has instructions for multiple sizes. I use this alot. I bought it at Joanns with a 40% of coupon and I have seen it quilt mags before. It is a great tool and would be lost without it. Also I will put Gail's rows into the mail tomorrow..let me know when you get it. Pam instructions for blocks size 3" to 15" 1st Gail, 2nd Elaine, 3rd Pam Quick & Easy Block Tool |
Pamesue --- thanx - I think I have that book. Will have to check it out. The colors you used make your block look 3-D in the picture. Will be looking for the package.

ok, I am sitting here looking at Cherie's rows and I am thinking.....and thinking.....and thinking...
will have to figure out what to do for this...this is going to be a very nice quilt when done. |
Nancy, I got the extra block, my sashing and your card. Thankyou...I love the extra block and the fabrics you used. Have a great weekend.
|
Ok Cherie,,,,, 2 blocks made and 3 more to go...:-)
|
Pam -- got your pkg today and OMG!!! Your row is fantastic. It may not be included when I forward on the rest -- maybe Qbee won't notice? Your batiks are beautiful, combination breathtaking, and embroidery perfect (I can't get mine to not pucker, even with two layers of stabilizer). Anyway, I got it and will start on it after I get my sewing room back together. I gutted it, moved everything into the hallway and living room to condense and sort. My daughter came in the front door and said "Mom!! You are a "hoarder"!!!) Can't say anything to that -- but it is taking me some to to put it all back. Hopefully they won't send reality tv cameras for a while.
|
LOL Nancy....Qbee is dreaming of her quilt....each and every row so I think I'd notice....ROFL :D Isn't it BEAUTIFUL!!! :D
I honestly LOVE this group....seriously.....I think ya'll are all so talented. And since I'm the only "newbie", ya'lls talent makes up for my more simple stuff. GREAT TEAMWORK!

the first row I did really sucked big time in my mine.... I am hopeing when I get your rows that some of these same batiks will work in your row....I really like them alot |
QBee, you drive me crazy with your "newbie" stuff. I hereby pronounce your graduation from "newbie" status. Your rows are lovely and even if you choose to call them "simple", they bring everything together and sometimes that is the most difficult part of quilting. You may no longer blame anything on being a "newbie", the new word is SNAFU.
|
ROFL!! I will actually lose my "newbie" status next month. I will celebrate my one year "quilting anniversary" in July so after that, I will be a......hmmm....what will I be....a "novice"???
Ya'll really are all SO talented though. By the way FQ Stash Queen; how are ya'll doing? Where are you now??
QBee, you drive me crazy with your "newbie" stuff. OK...back on track here. Spent the weekend in Texas and finally got to do my Mom's Memorial Service and bury my father's ashes. He was a true "Texas Boy" so I'm glad he is "back home". Mom's service was more of a celebration of her life and went very well. My DS put a video with pictures and music together and it was beautiful! I have to admit it was a emotionally difficult weekend but I'm so glad that I got to spend some time with my brother and other family. I also know now that I can NOT move back home to Texas!! It was 106 degrees when we were doing Mom's graveside service!! I could just hear my Mom saying "girl...get out of that sun!" LOL :D
Anyway....with hospitalization and all, I am behind but the star row will be mailed to you by weeks end Elaine :) Cherie, just let me know when you mail Pam's row. Hope you are doing well. Did I tell you I got a job? Yep....FINALLY got a job after months of searching. The timing was a bit off 'cause I had just gotten out of hospital but I can NOT complain....I am THRILLED to be working again :D Ya'll have a GREAT week! :D :D :D |
Good for you. Hope you enjoy it.

Pam's row is almost complete. Tried something "out of the box" for a center block and it had hand embroidery, so it took me a little longer, but I hope the results are worth it. Getting ready to do the sashing and will have it out by weekend. Then on to Elaine's. Have to really think about this one. Not sure what I had planned is going to really work because it's from a later (50's-60's) era than what everyone else has on it. Hope QBee can come up with something to tie it all together!

I'm assuming it's QBee's, which I was hoping would be the most fun since I love the theme.   |
I would go for it....her theme is "Ladies and girl past and present" so I think she was thinking any era. I can do 20s or current or something.

Pam, when I first read your theme it simply said brown and pink blocks. Now that I have gone out of the box for my center block, I see that your other postings say applique blocks. This one is embroidery. Hope that will be okay.
|
Oops! Don't remember anything saying "applique" -- I just did pink and brown, trying to follow colors in the first row. Oh well.
|
I'm SO confused?????? I thought it was pinks and browns in any pattern that we want....isn't that correct??

OK.....no laughing but what is a "sampler block"? I figured it meant a different block for all five? Is that not right?

"sampler" means any type of block....there are quilt patterns that are called samplers....and really all it is is different blocks......
I really am not looking for anything fancy...just a nice quilt made by friends that I have met on line... That is what I am looking for, so have fun with it. Look at the web site below...that should help you to know what a sampler is http://www.blockcentral.com/bom2010-intro.shtml |
Great....that's what I thought it meant :D
I am sorry I'm late again Elaine....been a WILD month between being in the hospital, starting a new job and mom's memorial. I'm feeling a ton better and glad to have Mom's service behind me for sure. Work unfortunately is still driving me a bit crazy with VERY long days but I'm just so glad to have a job finally. I'll be sending the star row either tomorrow or Thursday depending on work schedule. I've really enjoyed working on it. I'll le you know when it goes in the post. Oh....I'll also post pictures before I send it. I'll also post pictures of Pam's row when I get it from FQ Stash Queen :D

Well no wonder I've been struggling so much lately doing blocks -- eye doctor just confirmed I had cataracts and need the new lenses they do with cataract surgery. Going to Texas July 11 for further eval and I hope scheduling. Between that and a 3-week trip to Rochester in August, may be a bit behind this round. Just warning y'all.
|
That's okay Qbee...I understand, you can only do what you can do, stuff happens...you have had a lot happen, so just let me know when you mail it off and will be waiting for the pictures....:)

Nancy - I will be mailing you the next row quilt (which belongs to Cherie). I have it finished, so instead of just holding on to it, I am mailing it today so watch for it.
Gail - I am mailing you the first row I made for you as your extra blocks...you can use or not...totally up to you. That means I have only one row quilt left to do and that one will be Nancys. Cherie - I hope that you like the row that I added. I think this top is looking really good! OK.....here is the 3rd row of Nancy's Brite Stars quilt. I haven't sent it yet because I'm having a bit of trouble with the sashing but the row is done. I had attempted to do some paper piece stars that I really like but that didn't work out so I appliqued a "special" star block for the center. I hope you like it!! :)
The bottom row is mine Here is a close up of the center block |
OMG -- I LOVE IT!!! It is so bright and cheery. You did a great job on the center block -- fantastic idea, I never would have thought of it. Very clever. I know the kids will be fighting over this one whenever they visit.
