I am checking in ! I have participated in a row robin before, sew much fun. I did the sashing myself on my row robin. Great thing about that, you can decide on where the rows can be placed. I am still deciding on theme. I should have theme chosen soon.

Just checking in, I would like to send my sashing with my Row so it can be added as we go! Also would like my row to be the center row. So if you don't mind you can add to the left or right of my row as long as mine is center. And I forgot to attached that info in my mailing...I've already got it ready to send I just need cuppy address and we can get started...

Hey ya'll! checking in myself this morning. I will be away this morning but will check back in this afternoon when I return from my fabric run to get my backing fabric for this RR!

Looks like we're missing Vanogay and Girlscouts1 so far. I have a couple ideas I thought might be fun for the RR. I can sit down and type them all out to you a little later today. Just one thought we might want to do, exchange addresses via PM as this forum is public. Some don't like their information out there on the "super highway" :) Just a thought.

Anyway, I think this will be a great RR. We have to think of a name for our group. Anyone have any ideas? Let's all throw them out there! Can't wait to see what we come up with.

Just arrived back from my fabric run. So, a few ideas. I was thinking we needed to name our group, unless ya'll like group #4 :D I couldn't come up with many but I was thinking Stitchers across America or Stitching from afar or Stitching Divas or Quilters United. I know, not very creative today. Hopefully, ya'll have better.

I was also thinking we could include a journal or notebook in our packages. In them, we can share info about ourselves, our quilting careers or maybe just what's going on in our lives while we had the quilt tops. Any thoughts?

I was thinking possibly a siggy for our block rows, which would be fine. But, for instance, my quilt theme doesn't work with this concept. However, it doesn't mean we couldn't do it for others.

Also, to sew the rows together or not to sew together? Include sashing in the packages? I know there was talk regarding the postage cost, however, flat rate packages should solve that worry. Thoughts?

My theme is Triple Irish Chain Checkerboard Quilt Block. It is the 2nd one listed on this website http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...ain-quilt.html . I'm doing it with a grey background fabric and cooler colors. I would love it very scrappy. The only thing I would think doesn't work with it would be a bright orange, neons or like a lemon yellow color. Otherwise, pretty much anything should work.

So, chime right on in with your ideas and we'll see where we'll end up. :)

Couple other things I "borrowed" from the other groups. :)

Per Qbee, we will always send the row we make to the person listed after us. If everyone wants to PM me with your address, I can pass it to the correct person.

Mailing Dates

You have two months to get each round done.

1st Row – mail by Dec. 1st
Row 2 – Feb. 1st
Row 3 – April 1st
Row 4 – June. 1st
Row 5 – Aug. 1st

This is our order:
Leader - Sauki1
girlscouts1
Lv2sew2011
Cuppy
Vanogay

So, I will always send to Girlscouts1 when I finish a row and she will always send to Lv2sew2011 and so on.

I have never done this before so feel free to jump in with suggestions of things that have worked in the past if you have experience or ideas.

We need to make a few decisions.

#1. How should the quilt owner convey their vision of the quilt to the group? I was thinking each owner could send along letter stating their theme and what that theme means to them. Any other suggestions or ideas?

#2. Should rows be mailed early if finished early?

Plus, the ones from my previous post. :)

Well, I am here. I don't usually get on this computer until some time late in the afternoon, but I will be here. Sauki, I will need your address as I mail to you each time. I'll PM Cuppy with mine.
My thoughts - I like the idea of a journal to be included with the row as it is mailed. That doesn't weigh that much - and if we use flat rate boxes, the price really won't change. I think it's about $12.00 (got a Secret Pal box today and that was the postage on it). Each quilter can add her thoughts on the row she is working on and the owner will have a 'history' of her quilt when it's done.
I had planned to use sashing between my blocks (horizontal) and was going to include it with the package. Again, I don't think that'll add too much to the mailing costs. The rows can be left 'unsewn' but again, they can be sewn to the one before it. My rows are 3 & 2 as in 3 cats and 2 samplers in one row and 3 samplers and 2 cats in the next row, so it will be for the receiving person to decide which row they are on. If they are unsewn, it might be difficult to determine what type row is needed.
As far as names, I like Quilters Across America, but I really don't care.
I had thought about including a rather large - open design label to use on the back, but that can be changed to whatever you decide.
i'll have fun with a scrappy quilt and an angel also. Guess we just need to get ourselves in gear. I'm all for NOT mailing early - too much risk of losing it. Mail with 1 week of due date - 1 week before 1 Dec; 1 week before 1 Feb. We're all continental US, so should take too long to get them that way. Open for any and all...

Oh Gee, Right now I can't afford mailing $12.00 each time, I'm still waiting to see if I can get approved for SSDI, and funds aren't there for this. Now if we can get it in a FRE I'm all for that. I know as the Top get's bigger it will have to be sent in another package and I'm ok with that. I just can't afford the $12.00 each time it's mailed. Sorry!
