No singing in the shower for me...ever. Would have had the family come a runnin' to see what was wrong with mom. As to my SHDSP, it is all wrapped up, addressed and just waiting for the ok to take it to the post office. Getting exciting as the countdown begins.

DustysMomma 03-09-2013 09:03 AM

To all you kitty lovers, I just saw that Keepsake Quilting has a bunch of kitty-themed stuff on clearance. They have a whole line of wall quilt patterns that have cats made out of food. There's one from an ear of corn, 3 cat heads as peas in a pod, a broccoli bunch, a stretching cat from a banana, heads as a bunch of grapes, etc.

dusty'sm-- go back to rhonda's , wait never mind. i'll find a picture and post it for you. i made this as a wallhanging for rhonda's first wh swap. it came out about 36" square. this picture is obviously pre quilting. a great time to practice sitd, echo, and meandering fmq. phew! a lot of work!!

DustysMomma 03-09-2013 04:41 PM

OMG, how stinkin cute is THAT!? I know someone who would LOVE one of those! I may have to try it...

DustysMomma 03-09-2013 07:18 PM

You know how you (well I do anyway) get to a certain point in a project and go "OOOH! I hope I have enough fabric!" Well, I was at that point before I started sewing today, and about 20 minutes ago I came to the conclusion that this time, I really may be short and not just terminally paranoid. I'm going to Columbus, GA tomorrow, so I'll be taking a scrap with me and begging the fabric gods that there'll be more just like it at Joann's! Otherwise, you may hear me weeping and cursing all the way from Elisabrat's house. :(

nancia 03-10-2013 01:19 AM

these cats come separately and there are about 20 different ones. i couldn't make up my mind which one i liked most so i entered a bom at quilters quarter in kansas. each month i get a new one. on these 4 i chose my own fabric. on the quilt i plan to make i'll use the kit fabric. they are fun to do! ehe designer is also starting a series of dog flowers. i'll look up her name so i can post it. the artist's name is helene knott. her website is under construction so there's only a home page right now. the qeilts/pictures on her home page are gorgeous!

Elisabrat 03-10-2013 01:55 AM

Dustysmom, there are some here that are concerned that there is not any chatter about mailing. Could you enlighten the masses again one more time por favor? I know last time i mentioned it you said your group.. did you break it up into say three or four groups or are we one big giant group? curiosity for me on that one. But the overall concern again is that there is not any directions yet on what to do. thanks girly.

too cute those veggie cats. peas in a pod is my favorite. what a fun boom Nancia.

sewnsewer2 03-10-2013 05:02 AM

DustysMomma I will mail when you give me the 'go ahead', I'm ready.

DustysMomma 03-10-2013 06:06 AM

Did everyone remember to set your clocks ahead this morning?

Here's where we're at with the swap. There are 4 groups of 3-5 people. Of those, 2 groups are waiting on 1 person. The other 2 groups only have 1 person who's said they're ready. I've emailed everyone this morning who didn't recently post in the group about the status of their project.

I'm not going to post a "naughty list" at this point because we're not past due yet. But, if you're not ready to ship yet, please let me know you're still alive and about how long until you think you'll be finished & ready to go. :)

I've got to run to Columbus, GA to work for a bit today, but I'll be back mid to late afternoon to check email. Happy Sunday!

You're in 1 of the 2 groups with 1 person not yet ready. I've got you marked down as ready to go. :)

Okie doke!

QuiltingKrazy 03-10-2013 10:42 AM

This weekend has been so beautiful and warm, I have spent most of my time outside doing yard work while i am in the mood and CAN! Suppose to rain again Monday... :( I should be done with my project and ready to mail say by wed.

sikesjj 03-10-2013 11:54 AM

I am still working on mine, I have had some setbacks with being sick, my kids, and my house flooding. I hope to be done and ready to mail by Wednesday. I'm sorry if I am holding anyone up, but life happens and it has been happening a lot.

DustysMomma 03-10-2013 03:21 PM

Things happen & there's things that can't be avoided. As long as your family is safe, that's all that matters.

The first group is ready to ship and has been notified by email. So.....go check your box! :)

QK, I have to say I am jealous of your 'beautiful and warm' but happy for you too to be able to get out in the yard. I still have 3 foot drifts in most places but slowly melting. They might be gone by April 15th. LOL! This is like the count-down until Christmas!

Oh dear! Just concentraite on your family, getting well and getting your house back in order. Floods are a mess!

Well I took my Beau Beau to the doctor this morning and besides his crazy allergies, he has strep throat. This weekend he has been coughing a lot more and started chocking on his food, I looked at his throat and his tonsils were so swollen and red they looked like they were touching. So ten days of antibiotics, and he doesn't act like he is sick. I did find some sore throat suckers that he can have to help with the pain. Hopefully he will mend quickly.

dabbler312 03-11-2013 02:06 PM

No productive sewing for me this past weekend - people in and out all day Saturday and yesterday my wonderful kids wanted to celebrate my birthday early as my son works on Tuesday and he won't be able to make it for dinner; great fun day bbq'ing hamburgers and bratwurst - with some camper beans and salads; blueberry cream-cheese dessert; baby girl brought appetizers - left over crawfish boil from Friday nights mardi gras party - YUMMO; local tavern hosted a cajun style mardi gras party Friday night - they had live crawfish flown in from Louisiana - made jubolia - it was a lot of fun - guess my weekend was full of celebrations and no sewing. This morning we are back at the grindstone shoveling snow - 8 inches of heavy slush snow; my arms still feel like rubber from all that lifting.

I got my notice today from DM - ten days and counting.

Elisabrat 03-11-2013 07:36 PM

dabbler you know that all that armwork is great on the bo.. i mean bust upward movement! no snow here, hence the bean bag chest.. half filled and enjoying gravity. send your snow quick!

I mailed my package priority this afternoon so I think we will see a picture soon. I stupidly did not photograph it for me however. duh. So please secret partner post a picture if you could be so kind? I was mostly pleased with what I sent. Now to see if the colors work, crossing fingers....

dabbler312 03-12-2013 08:49 AM

oh Brat - I have such broad shoulders now I don't need anymore bulk - what needed bulking years ago has headed south or is in hiding somewhere under the armpit. More snow called for again this weekend.

Finished with table runner/topper swap project now to get going and finish this one - I've done several like this before so there shouldn't be any snags - actually DM has been cracking the whip making sure we stay on task; who's been giving her all the pointers - she's doing a great job moving us all forward.

So sorry he is sick. Where did you find the suckers? I myself have been sick going on 2 weeks now.

DustysMomma 03-12-2013 07:31 PM

I save my whip cracking for D-day, lol. There's still 1 person I haven't heard back from yet, and that frankly has me worried.

13-1/2 hr day today, so no sewing for me tonight, just a lot of heating pad for my neck. :(

SandyinZ4 03-12-2013 08:05 PM

DM, Hope your neck is better tomorrow. Bummer about the one person not answering. Seems life must always get in the way for someone. Hope she emails soon. There are still a few days left.

lovngrandma 03-12-2013 08:10 PM

ok DM i dont think its me, im working on mine , slowely but this sickness is not good, should be this weekend so sorry for being late

DustysMomma 03-12-2013 08:25 PM

Nope, it's not you, lol. This person doesn't post much in general, so I'm not calling out the national guard yet, lol.

Elisabrat 03-12-2013 11:32 PM

DABBLER HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I just reread (have to do this a lot) and somewhere in that I believe your birthday slipped by us...like yesterday. My sincere apologies. sheesh. Happy Birthday toooo you, Happy Birthday toooooo you, Happy Birthday dear Dabbler! Happy Birthday tooooo you!! and many more!!!

DustysMomma 03-13-2013 09:42 AM

Okidoki! The second group has been notified that everyone's ready to ship. Do't forget to let me know when they're on the way!

sikesjj 03-13-2013 12:51 PM

I got the suckers at CVS, they were in the kids medicine section on the bottom shelf in a big bag, they were $5. He eats them instead of sucking on them, but I tried them and they seemed to help, and they dont have that nasty medicine aftertaste.

dabbler312 03-13-2013 02:17 PM

Thank you - I had a wonderful birthday celebration with my kids on Sunday, dinner with girlfriends on Monday night and last night my beautiful baby girl and wonderful daughter-in-law took me out for dinner and drinks afterward. The mister gave me a Kindle (the black and white books only); I had been contemplating getting one for the past several weeks and he decided for me; do any of you have one and do you like it better than turning pages in an actual book?

jaba 03-13-2013 03:36 PM

Happy B-day and sooooo sorry to be late, you need to let us know!!! As far as the Kindle, I bought my husband a Nook for his b-day and he loves it. Has not read a paperback since. You can buy anything on there you want and cheaper than bookstore price. It's in the machine and not a lot of paper at your house trying to find out where to put it.

Elisabrat 03-13-2013 05:12 PM

oh but there is something so profoundly special about holding a book. I love paperbacks not hardbacks however hard to hold for me. I think its all about what feels right to you. Once you get the hang of it you might actually love it. Me I buy my books for .50 at the thrift store or use the free library here so kindle no matter how reasonable is going to run me more than a book.

I am glad you have another group ready to mail. that is exciting. this means we get to start seeing what is being sent. like Christmas a whole bunch of presents waiting to be unwrapped. I am ready I am ready!!!

DustysMomma 03-13-2013 05:38 PM

We have a whole wall of paper books in our living room, plus another sizable bookshelf in my son's room. We all got Kindles within about a 3 month period and have not bought another paperback since. I love that I can take multiple books with me when we travel without having to worry about space or weight. There is still a place for printed books, especially those that you really love that speak to your soul, but this is so much better for my life. I'm actually rereading the Dune books right now, which I'd never have found together in print at a reasonable price.

SandyinZ4 03-13-2013 07:32 PM

I just bought a Kindle Fire (2nd - hand) and am trying to figure out how to work it. Have downloaded a few books on it and I think this is the way us older folks are going from now on. Won't have bunches on the shelf to dust.I am excited to receive my package but suspect that where I live, it won't arrive much before Monday of next week.

Elisabrat 03-14-2013 05:05 AM

Sandy are you like far off in no where land? Mail here comes pretty regular it seems. I find it funny that I can send to say Wyoming and it takes 5 or 6 days. To Oregon 5 or 6 days. To NY 3 to 5 days and the worst? AZ it takes the longest. No rhyme or reason I think other than some go by plane and other must go ground. All first class. Sure hope you get your package today it would be a fun treat I think for you.

Silly girl, didn't you know that all mail to AZ comes in by burrow and is delivered on the backs of tarantulas? :D That' why it's so slow.

Elisabrat 03-14-2013 11:29 AM

Yes but first we have to get past the javalena. Now that is one grumpy little critter. I know its their lack of good eyesite but I wouldnt deliver mail if I had to get in front of those guys. no sir no how.

Robinlee 03-14-2013 03:13 PM

DustysMomma 03-14-2013 05:47 PM
