It's almost that time of year again!
I'LL BE TAKING NAMES STARTING SEPTEMBER 15TH.

This is just a heads up to let everyone know so tell your friends.
Have your friends tell their friends and their friends tell their friends.

I know some of you wait all year for this, so start your engines and get a head start
on some little shopping.

AGAIN....I WILL NOT BE TAKING NAMES AT THIS TIME. THIS IS JUST A HEADS UP, SO STAY TUNED!!!

More information please. This is the first time I am hearing about this. We used to participate in something through our church that sounds similar.

I'll be posting a list of rules and if you just follow them, all is good.
Basically, you'll get a name with the info that the person provided and you go from there. It's easy peasy

Some of you may find this amuzing, but I am just beginning to understand that this Secret Santa thing is actualy an exchange between board members. I thought that it was similar to something we used to do in church where we were given information about a needy child at Christmas and we bought gifts for them.

Question: Don't fully understand the concept. Do you make one set of (50) 2 1/2" squares for each month (?) or for each person's birthday month that is participating in the swap? If 3 people share the same month do you make 50 for each one? Have participated in a row quilt, a mug rug swap and a Secret Santa swap on this board but never a birthday swap.

RoseIrish go to your calendar and put SS sign up on Sept 16. then no matter what time it is posted on the 15 it will be there when you log in. Put an note on your fridge too.

Sewing sew, look up secret santa for last year and youll get an idea how it goes. lots of imaginary fun as you do pre christmas partying and collect for your santee

M-fay, I did as you suggested and looked up the Secret Santa swap for 2016. Thank you for directing me to the archives. It was helpful. I spent a long time looking at the photos and reading the posts, but there was too much to see it all. I really enjoyed the photos. For the sake of people who are new to this, here are a few observations. I noticed that many people didn't post photos of what they received. With that in mind, it would be a good idea to take photos before you mail a package so that you're able to share your efforts with everyone, especially if you've made something by hand. Also, it is worth noting that some packages are loaded with treasures, while others are not so much; so if there are limits to a cash amount, it appears that there may be some grey area. A couple of people physically delivered their gifts to their recipients house. I don't know if they were, outside of the Quilting Board, personal friends or not, but that was a surprise to read. And at least one member had their full name mentioned in the thread... and that also was a surprise to read. Many members put a lot of effort and thoughtfulness into the packages they put together. There were many homemade items and I wish that there were more close-up photos of some of those things. There were members from countries other than the US who partipated. It would be fun to send or receive a package from another part of the world. I would like to have seen photos of the loot that everybody mailed out. It would take hours just to get through the thread. This is definitely an exciting event to participate in. I hope to join in the fun.

I'm thinking about it, will keep my eyes open for sure.

I'm on the fence. Not sure if I can (or should) join this year since
losing my job 2 weeks ago.

Will think long and hard about it.

Only a few more days and I'll be taking names!!!
