I found the perfect pattern for my crazy quilt month, can't wait to get started... I don't usually embellish like the true crazy quilts but maybe just this time I will have to add a little 'bling' to finish this one off :) :)

I'm so excited about this one. I learned something last year ... about spider webs being good luck and this year I found a pattern for a free standing lace spider web so my partner will be very luck!
I don't know why, but our swap didn't get a sticky this month  so we are sliding off the swap page. The only way to bring us up so we get more swappers is to post, post post. So ... get posting girls! |
Yep we put those spider webs and spiders in the crazy quilts last year! LOVE LOVE LOVE true crazy quilts!!!
|
HEy are YoU talking about mE again Krystyna (maybe you like whacky or wonky???) caught you asking who likes le brat!!!! fine with me. I am out here leaning over as far as I can like a tree just because I can.. no maybe its cause the ground is slopped? ah maybe its just me. gotcha!
I want to make a whacky critter. chicken, bird, cat, dog, done pigs so off pigs at the moment.. or maybe a wonky house? or just a wonky log cabin? ok will wait patiently to see who i get and what they want. If I scare them away Krysytna they were way not able to keep up with the rest of you 'all. I am the one sitting on go wondering what to do and I see oh one, two, five dq's come in. Not the fastest one on the board. OH OH how about a ducks day at the beach! see that is sorta whacky ducks dont hang at the beach.. or maybe chickens at the ball game? OR a flower made out of fabric that is not floral.. or Santa made out of turkey fabrics.. or a turkey made out of veggie fabrics.. that is whacky in my minds eye (you should see what my mind comes up with lol). |
Hey feel free to do a plug on my swap Krysytna see if anyone there wants another little project! (he he just added one more post come on girls say hey say boo say something so that this moves up to the land Krystyna is used to. at the top!)
|
Well, here's my BOO!
Elisabrat is hosting a table runner swap. Sounds like fun ... hope some of you join in! |
I let everyone know about Crazy quilt month on the FQ swap!
|
Kept thinking I could do the crazy this month but going to have to wait. Have too much stuff already to keep track of while we're on the road and being gone for about 3 weeks is enough to think about for this woman. Will try for next month, hope you all have fun and I will enjoy looking at all the pics of your pretties.

quilting crazy!
I am thinking I can quilt crazy. I mean I have done crazy blocks they were my go to when the kids were little.. incorporate a lot of the fabrics they loved in one quilt cohesively but its been years. I adore those victorian ones always wanted to own a vintage crazy quilt.. swoon they are gorgeous the velvets the hand work the oh I need that.. just havent won the lottey to buy my own. :( BUT I think for me I am more wonky inside. lol. well ok I am crazy and wonky. I admit it. fine. glad to see you got your sticky and are up at the top Krystyna. I have no idea how that works btw. I see lots of posts in others with lots of views and they are not up here. Maybe its how many times you host also?? You do a bang up job and it appears people are finding my swap just fine :)
|
Oh, I don't care about the sticky as a matter of my own ego -- but if you don't have one, the swap slides out of view and then we don't have as many new people signing up -- and new people are always fun to have on board! You have to ask Admin for a sticky and since it's spring, our fearless board leader, PatriceJ, has been out in the garden. Am I jealous? You bet! Maybe next year
About the spider webs ... here is an article called A Spider Web for Luck. I wonder if there are any other traditions for Crazy Quilts? How can anyone ever get bored quilting? Impossible! Besides the beauty of the different patterns, the traditions and meanings of each element are so fascinating and tell stories about the women (and men) who make them. I just love it so much! Oooo! I have to share something lovely with all of you. Writing that reminded me of the PBS series "Why Quilts Matter". Since I don't get that broadcast here in New York, and it looked so fascinating, I treated myself to the DVDs last year for my birthday. Never got to watch them, sad to say. Well, the flood came and they were encrusted with who knows what. Impossible to clean. Last week I got an email about a discount on the DVDs and on a whim I wrote them, saying what happened and asked if they might have any ideas about how to clean them. Guess what? They sent me a new set! What lovely people! And now I still want to figure out how to clean them so I can share with someone else! |
There are so many good people out there!! Glad you got them back. Now you gotta find time to watch them. I tape Fons & Port and Quilting with Nancy and watch on the weekends while DH is fishing. Never heard of the one you are talking about. i wonder if I would get it? I will have to look.
|
I never got around to watching it because we didn't have a DVD player hooked up to the television. We had FIOS and could record whatever we wanted so there was no point. Now I have our old one sitting here, but have no clue how to hook it up. Maybe will try on my computer! Happy to share with you when I'm done.

Bring on the crazy chicken/bird/donkey/monkey for me... Crazy is how I get through the days and not take life too serious!!
|
Last year my partner made me a traditional crazy quilt and included a squirrel on it for my office. It was so adorable so you can do many things with a crazy quilt.
|
How about a crazy kitty crazy quilt. :p I've got a real crazy kitty living with me. ( This post is only to make more posts. Don't pay much attention to it.)
|
I've noticed the 'stickies' on some of the places. What does a 'stickie' mean? I started a crazy something--not sure if that will be what I wind up sending for May swap or not. I liked it and then I added something I didn't like, so I removed that part. Hmmmm? Now what? I will have to go back to Post #66 and check out the link for the May 2012 crazy quilts that were submitted and take a looksee.
Speaking of spiders, at Christmas craft sales there are usually people selling beaded spiders for your Christmas tree. I have one but I don't know if I still have the legend that came with it or not. I should be sewing but I'm not! |
fans are also a part of traditional crazy quilts.
|
Hey, I'm with BertieD -what is a "stickie" ? I think it's something to do with a whole lotta people responding to a thread? Well if blah-blah-blah is what we need I gotta a whole of it, just let me know! :----)

I am here to say NO SPIDER WEB NOTHINGS EVER like NEVER like NEVER EVER. With spider webs come spiders. Now there is absolutely nothing LUCKY about a spider so you guys are all walking with "the little people" forget it. Native Americans use a dream catcher (a sybolic spider web) to catch your dreams before they fly out of your home. Ok well my dreams are not all that so they can fly out anytime. And if it caught MEMORIES like current short term memories I might consider it (no no I wouldnt). I am one anti spider person to the 100th degree.
Stickie Alert: We have one so your safe but post away it encourages people to come check us out! I think a wonky chicken is in my horizon.. Tracibug??? Also: I promise to not propose to any more members when your looking ok? that is a good compromise! and the DH tells me I cant bring home another wife no way no how . ... apparently one is enough. I would like a wife! I say two men are one too many for sure. anyone else agree with me?? unless a second hubby rubbed ankles and um gave scalp massages and did dishes and laundry and smiled while doing it.. then a second hubby might not be too horrible. especially if he was a honey do guy. oh yeah.. rethinking this.. nah more in another wife. they do EVERYTHING lol.. |
