You're doing great! Now you know the deep dark secrets of my color coding and secret initialing!

QuiltingKrazy 10-26-2012 02:43 PM

Only a few more days to sign up for the NOVEMBER Doll Quilt Swap so jump on in!
I finally got my idea for my DQ now I just have to get it from the brain to the fabric!

wanda lou 10-26-2012 09:17 PM

Praying for everyone in the path of the storm.

Krystyna 10-27-2012 03:39 AM

Thank you, Wanda Lou. I'm going into overdrive now, so I probably won't be around much ... have fun, play nice, and everyone be safe!

wanda lou 10-27-2012 12:23 PM

Krystyna I'm with you in prayer my friend, hang in there.

Krystyna 10-27-2012 12:42 PM

Thank you. Almost all the windows are boarded up and it's awfully dark in here. I hate this waiting.

urgodschild2 10-28-2012 10:03 AM

Krystyna, I agree with you on where on earth do you go. I mean how fast can you move all the people who need to move out. My prayers are with you. Seek higher ground as they say.

My DQ for Nov is all done and it is so cute. I will be mailing it out as soon as I get my partner's name. I know that I am really early but have to have it gone before I go down under.

urgodschild2 10-28-2012 10:19 AM

Oh my goodness....I did google Long Beach, New York and I think maybe you should leave and go inland. You are right on the front line of where the storm will hit. I will keep you in my prayers.

Krystyna 10-28-2012 04:30 PM

It's too late to go anywhere. We are under mandatory evacuation ... and that means 95% of the population stays where it is with a chunk of them heading to the bars for hurricane parties. Our windows are boarded up as usual in these situations but with a new innovation -- we have sliding peep holes so we can see outside and know what's crashing around us instead of guessing in the dark. Oil lamps are filled and ready. Lots of comfort food on hand. Flashlights and crank radios are ready. So ... we wait and we pray. I have a book light and some hand sewing and that's about it. Prayers are very much welcome! See you on the other side!

nancia 10-28-2012 04:55 PM

you know, i always sound like the villain, or the voice of doom, but which part of 'MANDATORY' do you long beachers not understand??? god sends you a lot of chances to help yourself, but part of it is up to you! i am terrifically worried and fearful for your predicament. man, i'd be heading in a car going west! please, reconsider! you're too young to die! prayers being fervently and frequently said!!

Krystyna 10-28-2012 05:23 PM

Nancia, there is nowhere to go.

Judith1005 10-28-2012 05:33 PM

Hang tight Krystyna. All our prayers are with you. It's very similar to New Orleans. Only, some 250,000 people in New Youk need to move very very quickly. Like when the initial threat became a possibility. That time has come and gone. So everybody who believes in the power of prayer, everyone in the path of Hurricane Sandy needs it now. Stay Safe and Good Luck!!

QuiltingKrazy 10-28-2012 05:59 PM

Krystyna, keep the faith. I understand your feelings. Hopefully this will be over soon....well at least the weather portion but power outages is another story. Well you can also hand piece a quilt by oil lamps and imagine as it
you were living in history! :)

QuiltingKrazy 10-28-2012 07:22 PM

Well NC is getting our part of the storm. Rain and high winds on the coast and SNOW in the mountains. So good thing y'all batten down the hatches!!

Crazy Quiltin Robin 10-28-2012 07:24 PM

Krystyna if we ever have another storm like this one (Sandy) you can come stay with me ..... I have plenty of room for friends .... am praying we hear from you and that you are ok ....... praying.....CQR

In other words you wont have to wonder where you could go .... my home is your home ...

Krystyna 10-28-2012 07:42 PM

CQR, you are a darling. We do have lots of places to go if things were normal, but they are not good options for safety and safe travel. Both of my sisters, my nieces and nephews are all in the path of the storm. We stayed with one sister last time who lives further out on Long Island ... and she had more of a mess than we did. My other sister lives in Ipswich, MA right on the river, my aunt (with 18 cats) is in Manhattan, niece in New Jersey, nephews in the boroughs of Queens ... all in bad spots ... and in order to get off our island, which is south of Long Island, all the roads out over the in-between islands are flooded before we are. Then there is the matter of trees crashing down on the parkways as we go through New York City to get wherever we are going -- if the bridges and tunnels aren't already closed. We have flood insurance and it will be what it will be. We took a ride around part of the island and I would guess that most everyone stayed put. But ... when things dry out and get warmer, my dream would be to hop in an RV and visit everyone! And now ... I think I'll curl up under a wee doll quilt and dream of nicer days ahead.
Love and hugs to all ... everyone be safe and Godspeed!

wanda lou 10-28-2012 08:49 PM

It's all good Krystyna...

quiltymom 10-29-2012 03:32 AM

Thoughts and prayers to you and yours Krystna. I also have family in RI and Mass. Pray your all safe!!!

Krystyna 10-29-2012 07:24 AM

All good so far. East and Western ends of the sandbar are flooded, but that always happens. The test will come tonight at high tide.

QuiltingKrazy 10-29-2012 12:17 PM

My sister lives on the third floor and is 1/2 block from the manditory evac zone!
She lives a few blocks from The City Quilter! She said they should be ok it is the aftermath they
are concerned about.

NOV DQ is running just find. Signed up a few bodies today!

QuilterMomma 10-29-2012 03:13 PM

I am concerned for all you easterners, God be with you.

I do have a question on this month's theme. We are to do a quilt on what we are thankful for, does that mean a cup of good joe is ok? Every morning I am so grateful for my cup of joe.

QuiltingKrazy 10-29-2012 03:31 PM

[QUOTE=I do have a question on this month's theme. We are to do a quilt on what we are thankful for, does that mean a cup of good joe is ok? Every morning I am so grateful for my cup of joe.[/QUOTE]

Oh my! Now THAT is something to be thankful for!!!! Gotta have my cup to get my morning started for sure.

marytoddliz 10-29-2012 10:10 PM

Krystyna, my prayers are with you and all your family! I have family in NC and New Hampshire, Mass, Conn and Maine... But so far all are safe, not all evacuations are a good idea and I think you know what is best for you and your family~ I think I am thankful the only thing we have to worry about here is an Earthquake!

I will start my DQ next week, heading to my Sons house on Wednesday and my Marathon on Sunday, I think that makes this week full!

Prayers to all in Sandy's path~

Needlegrammy 10-30-2012 05:12 AM

buslady 10-30-2012 07:39 AM

Oh, my goodness. I am so glad you posted. I have been thinking about Krystyna and praying she is OK. What we see on TV looks awful!! I was actually just on line looking at the area she lives in. They must have taken a direct hit!! If you hear anything further, please keep us posted!!!

mooretll 10-30-2012 10:01 AM

Krystyna i have been so worried for you and your family. My prayers are that you all will be ok and know how much you are LOVED. be safe my friend.

Judith1005 10-30-2012 10:13 AM

Krystyna, My heart goes out to you and your family and I pray for your continued safety. You are in our thoughts and prayers hear on the QB. As are all our QB friends that have been affected by the storm.

Dragonfly Nana, Have you made it through the storm ok.

I have heard from both of my kids, North Carolina (safe) and Rhode Island (work) But have been trying to get south to there house in FL and keep getting re-routed to New York. So, this storm has affected so many.

Muv 10-30-2012 10:46 AM

Oh my God, Krystyna, we're just so shocked, so sorry to hear it was so bad. Prayers going up for you now.

Love Muv xxx

Elisabrat 10-30-2012 11:02 AM

I am glad to hear that the family is ok Krystyna, that is and always shall be what matters most. Buildings can be rebuilt. Homes abound all over but people that we love .. irreplaceable.

Still thinking depends on how far I get with my little girls thankful wallie today have to mail it Thursday overnite to her in Oregon. A deal is a deal right? one thing at a time. I have her December one done so plenty of time to make one of those :) yippee at least there is hope in the near future of playing the fun dq game. Still got time right? is it midnite Wed night or do we turn into pumpkins sooner? its cut and started sewing it. So.. think I can think I can.. thankful for Coffee? you betcha. Thankful for so many things I am silent in retrospect. I am alive today because someone else was willing to to live on in someone they never even knew. That makes me happy inside and it also makes me so deeply saddened for the family who is celebrating Thanksgiving this year without her. Again, no possible design could translate into those feelings. Just know I have them and will probably do something off kilter this time if I do sign up.

QuiltingKrazy 10-30-2012 12:06 PM

Still time to sign up for November Doll Quilt Swap! Don't hesitate! You know you wanna! Com'on! Just Do it!
We have 37 people signed up so far! I'll post the partner list sometime tomorrow!

PinkLotus 10-30-2012 01:03 PM

So thankful to hear that Krystyna and family is ok. The pictures are something aweful that you see on the news and online. Hope everyone who was in the path of this storm is safe and well. We got winds and it turned cold, but that is nothing compared to what others have went through.

I have a good idea ready for my DQ for this month.

wanda lou 10-30-2012 01:51 PM

Krystyna and family you have been in my prayers and will continue to be.

Lynnie25 10-30-2012 06:29 PM

So pleased to see that Krystyna and her family are safe. We are seeing some unbelievable pictures here on TV in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the low lying areas sure are a mess. I do hope all QB members in the path of that awful storm are safe. Material things can be replaced, good friends can't :(

Crazy Quiltin Robin 10-30-2012 07:16 PM

Am so glad your alright Paula .... I hope Krystyna and all the others on the coast are keeping dry and warm .... this is such a horriable storm ..... everyone is in awe of it .... we saw the island towns today on Fox news .... I feel so bad for them all ..... prayers for everyone effected by this horriable storm

JauntyMelissa 10-31-2012 03:57 AM

Good Morning Ladies, I know that I've been gone for a while and I'm sorry, I do miss the board dearly, BUT........ I am on this morning just to give y'all an update on my dear soon to be mother - in - law Krystyna. Even though our home was badly flooded and so was the rest of our community, we are all alive and well. There is no power, no gas, no water, no nothing and I am at my parents house in a village that has all of there own utilities and bring this update to you guys from here. We are all very thankful for everyone's prayers and well wishes, I know that yall love her as much as Blaze and I do. Cell service is spotty, if mostly non- existent in our community, and most of long island. I just wanted to bring you guys news of miss K, and let everyone know that she is safe. We hope everyone else on the Board who lives in the area effected by hurricane sandy is alive and well and just remember that we might of lost material objects, but we kept our lives and families, and we still have each other and that is what matters the most!!!

QuiltingKrazy 10-31-2012 05:16 AM

THANK YOU Melissa! for the update. I expect if will quite sometime before power is restored and things get back to even remotely as what used to be the normal! Please give Krystyna a big hug from all of us on the QB and let her know we are thinking about her and ALL those affected. Please let her know the NOV DQ Swap is continuing on and I am doing a pretty good job filling in for her! She has to many other things to worry about right now. Let her know her partner is still going to get a DQ ready for Krystyna and does not expect one in return. (I did speak with Buslady)

Our Prayers and thoughts are with all affected!
Lisa B

Judith1005 10-31-2012 05:20 AM
