Am so glad your alright Paula .... I hope Krystyna and all the others on the coast are keeping dry and warm .... this is such a horriable storm ..... everyone is in awe of it .... we saw the island towns today on Fox news .... I feel so bad for them all ..... prayers for everyone effected by this horriable storm

TammyB 10-30-2012 07:35 PM

I heard back from HobbyKat1955 (Kathy). Here was her message to me. I don't think she would mind that I pass it along. She's safe.

"hi, no power since yesterday 1pm...finally got a generator and got it going today at noon for freezer and frig...no real rain so no flooding which was my main concern to having a backup to run pumps. high winds knocked down trees and wires so no word as to when we will get power bacvk here in ny.
ri lost power per neighbors yesterday at 5 so can't even escape up there with the food to putin that freezer...OH welll...keeping fingers crossed that we dont run out of gas for this generator before lights come on...everything is closed.
down to ipad with 79 percent power once it's gone no communication ...talk soon kathy"

Paula, so glad to hear your faired well during the storm. Was just asking about you on the other DQ thread. I think Novembers thread is very appropriate. What your grateful for. This storm does getting you thinking about all the things your grateful for even in the event of a terrible storm.

Sorry to hear that folks on the East Coast are in ruins, I pray that you all get through all of this. Glad your all are alive and well, I know you don't want to hear this but your things can always be replaced! :-( God bless to you all and keep strong!
Donna

Thought I would share this post here in case you didn't see it on the NOV DQ Swap....
This in from JauntyMelissa....
Good Morning Ladies, I know that I've been gone for a while and I'm sorry, I do miss the board dearly, BUT........ I am on this morning just to give y'all an update on my dear soon to be mother - in - law Krystyna. Even though our home was badly flooded and so was the rest of our community, we are all alive and well. There is no power, no gas, no water, no nothing and I am at my parents house in a village that has all of there own utilities and bring this update to you guys from here. We are all very thankful for everyone's prayers and well wishes, I know that yall love her as much as Blaze and I do. Cell service is spotty, if mostly non- existent in our community, and most of long island. I just wanted to bring you guys news of miss K, and let everyone know that she is safe. We hope everyone else on the Board who lives in the area effected by hurricane sandy is alive and well and just remember that we might of lost material objects, but we kept our lives and families, and we still have each other and that is what matters the most!!!

Nana Val 10-31-2012 12:48 PM

Many thoughts and prayers going out to all the storm victims. I cannot imagine the devastation you all are facing. The little quilts are, as usual, outstanding! This is such a creative group. I mailed mine to Handi today, PO man said it should arrive Friday or Saturday. I'll be sitting out Nov, too much on my plate and I am not an organized person, :( . Looking to forward to joining again soon. In the meantime I'll be peeking in to see some eye candy.

I got the nicest quilt from oowee today. It's perfect for the season, pumpkins, leaves, great fall colors and quilted really, really nice. She also enclosed recipe cards and a piece of shelf liner to put under my ruler when cutting. I never thought of it and can't wait to try it. She also wrote me a sweet note. Thanks, Sherri, I love the quilt and it was worth waiting for!

I am trying to upload a picture but am having a problem, so I will try again in a little while.

OMG this is just amazing, I love the owl in the middle, and the pumpkins, plus the cute spider and it's web is just sooooo cute together!!!
But I do have a quick question, does anyone know if there is a website that I can get an embroidery piece done? I am trying to find one that will make an Eagle and a Owl embroidered together in a nice way. I have been trying to find one but I have not be successful at it at all. Any info I would appreciate it. Thank you and have a wonderful week!!!

Robert here on the board does custom embroidery work. His work is beautiful. He seems very experienced. Adapts patterns. http://www.quiltingboard.com/members...ll-u24255.html If you want to see examples of his work he has an album on his profile page. He also has quite a few examples of his beautiful embroidery work on the Monthly Bee Block swap. http://www.quiltingboard.com/member-...57580-548.html Good luck on your quest.

Finally home in NY and got power last night after 9 days. We were worry with the 6 inches of snow that hit that they would go out again but we lucked out. Can't complain because I had other options and we were able to leave and go somewhere else, there are so many others that don't have that option...Picked up mail and had two wonderful Halloween DQ's from my swap partners Sewbeadit and Aunt Janey....
One with Casper on one side and Pumpkins on other with Pumpkin label and socks from Aunt Janey
Log cabin spider wed border and two FQ's from Sewbeadit
Thank you ladies they are both great and love the extra's
