Evie, you can still do the postage stamp quilt in the challenge. Maybe they will do another swap soon. I'm sure all of us will have extra ones. I know it's hard to keep from having duplicates. But I'm trying.

Havplenty 08-14-2011 08:40 AM

i believe there will be a fall 1.5" stamp swap and a neutral stamp swap coming up. i think this swap is "seasonal" such as winter swap, spring swap, summer swap, fall swap.

i would suggest to check the Member Swaps and Round/Row Robins on a regular basis to see when the next stamp swap is posted. missi normally does them but she is on break so mariposa is doing the fall swap. twisted quilter stepped up to do the summer one.

you are of course free to do a separate trade with other board members also. i have done that with a few board members. we just agree to trade with each other and mail to each other.

i have plenty of stamps cut so i can do an additional trade with someone. just pm me if you are interested.

Not sure, but I think the Fall swap is going to be neutrals. Can someone tell me what is included in neutrals. I'm thinking I won't have enough to participate.

pattis47 08-14-2011 11:07 AM

what a shame I missed this one. have had bags ready to ship since May, just waiting for Missi to post.

Havplenty 08-14-2011 01:28 PM

twisted i believe when the neutral swap was discussed tans, off whites, whites, browns, black, grays were mentioned. i went back through my messages to see if i could find where the neutral swap was discussed but cannot find it. sorry.

I agree, start working on them early and it's not so bad. I'm already getting started on the next swap.

And I think there was going to be less than 50 stamps per set, but I don't recall that any particular number was mentioned. Re-reading the postings on the last swap, the number of stamps mentioned was two each of 25 fabrics for a total of 50 stamps. I could probably do that.

Havplenty 08-15-2011 02:45 PM

i think it was discussed in the winter 1.5 swap. i have a pm response to missi where i said i perhaps wouldn't have that amount of neutrals but i couldnt find the pm missi sent inquiring about our interest in the neutral swap. i saw some discussions on neutrals in the winter swap thread. i otherwise don't remember. i will just wait until the post appears and see at that time what i have available.

I think you are correct. I was a part of that conversation and that was the final outcome. (because we didnt feel we could do 50 in just cream, off white, ecru).

yep, I'm side swapping. hee! Don't have the patience to wait the couple years it would take to swap enough to have 7680.

P.S. anyone side swapping with me, let me know the color you need most of. & I'm hoping for yellows.... Brights, softs (light & dark for contrast) in pure yellows, in yellow-greens, and in yellow-oranges. But, I need all colors, not so much neutrals, tans, browns, black, white, gray. .... just FYI

quiltmouse 08-17-2011 02:08 PM

I found my sorting tool for cutting the sets! Dollar General has foil muffin tins, 2 of 6 for $1.25. set them out cut cut cut, put away, stack them up. Went to $ gen to buy ice trays, but like these better. I think the ice trays would be too fiddly for me. Plus I tend to knock things over, I think the tins will be a bit more stable. ... only thing is, I need more now, with my side swaps.

I was once sewing with a neighbor, we were sitting on her bed. 3 times, I moved her box of pins further from the edge, it was between us. She kept putting it back right next to the edge. When I knocked it over, I did not apologize or say anything at all. weeelll? really? I tried to prevent my own clumsiness causing an issue...

Hey, come on and join us in the challenge thread for postage stamp tops. We haven't gotten very far. Some haven't even started sewing yet. I'm going mine by hand. So it's easy to catch up with me.

You can swap with all of us that want to in the challenge or the ones that stated they would swap here for extras.

Come on and have fun!!! We would love to have you. So we can see more pretty pics, like Crafty 1 put up.

HummerGardenCrafts 08-17-2011 05:34 PM

I will also do side swapping of 1 to 3 packets of 50 postage stamps. Just give me a PM with your name and addy. Plus how many you want to swap. I'll do the same with my info.
