VALENTINES DAY MUG RUG SWAP!

What is a mug rug? A mug rug is an item you use to hold your cup of coffee or tea or soda and a small snack plate/napkin beside it. Its approximately 9x7 or larger so you can put that little plate on it and a mug.

1. You will be assigned a partner. This is not a secret pal swap. Each partner will contact the other partner for addresses. You are encouraged to talk to each other and find out little things about them so you can make a special gift for them.

2. You must hand quilt your mug rug in a fashion that you are most comfortable with. If you don't know how to paper piece maybe stick to regular piecing for this item. It must be sewn, with 100 percent quilters cotton, bound, and with batting in between to protect furniture from possible destruction due to heat/cold. Be creative. Send something you would be proud to put out yourself. Be kind about what you receive. Any complaints MUST COME TO ME ONLY. Let me deal with anything please. The quilting board is a place we all come to enjoy ourselves, make friends, share ideas. Not everyone is a perfect quilter. BUT everyone tries. We all started somewhere so be considerate when posting.

3. You must send by February 1st and send me notice that you have sent to your partner. Any delays must be shared with me prior to this date. I want everyone to receive a partners trade. This calling on angels is getting old around here. Be responsible. you sign up? you send. Period.

4. You are free to include tea/coffee and a small treat to go with your mug rug. If your feeling very generous you can send a bit more but nothing is obligated. fat quarters or other fabric related items are also perfect little add on's...any of the above are always loved. YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO DO THIS however so keep this in mind when sending and receiving.

5. NO opening your package until Valentines Day so hold your horses when its received! when we will all open on the same day and post pictures of what we got. (note: take a picture before you send in case your partner cant post their gift.) Please mark all boxes clearly on the front Valentines Mug rug so the recipient will know not to open it early ok? pretty please???

Names will be given out January 2nd! so sign up today! You are required by the board to send things you sign up for. If you don't you risk having the ability to swap again in other events so make sure you follow through with what you sign up for. Again per board rules anything about your partner or the item they swap to you that does not please you is NOT to be posted on the board but sent in private email to me to sort out. Its polite and its the right thing to do.

well we have 13 signed up already! wow you guys are FAST! I am sure we will hit over 30 by the time the swap comes around. If we only have 20 we will have tons of great players and this is a 'sweet' swap with all the colors out there. think RED! PINK! WHITE! FLORALS! LOVE! HEARTS! BIRDS (love birds you silly people) and well if your partner loves cats, well cats with hearts! lol.

I didn't post and think I can possibly get in to add a few suggestions on your sign ups but a little list of what your favorite things are.. tea pots? animals? camping? think outside the box fabric comes in all sorts of designs. Maybe its a sandy beach? you can use beach fabric and maybe a heart towel appliqued on it or an umbrella with tiny hearts! you know the options are endless so if you don't post to me what you like I cant send it to your PARTNER. of course who wouldn't love a valentine colored mug rug heck hearts work all year long for me! go to pinterest and search for mug rugs and valentines and see what you get. idea central that place is! post ideas here for others to get inspired with. if you have time make it this coming week.. a few days off nothing to do... just saying :) this way your not late when the time comes to mail. NO slow pokes this time please. Make the time, it doesn't take long to whip up a mug rug. But it takes making the time. Keep those sign ups coming we love all players of all skills. Newbies you will have lots to learn. experts well this is a breeze for you. Bottom line is we encourage all levels of players. If you are an expert quilter and only want an expert quilter then I will try based on past notifications but truly I think its nice if you know that sometime you will receive things a new quilter made. Remember this: you were a new quilter at one time too. Everyone starts somewhere. This is a place for everyone and that is the beautiful thing. Also new quilters? ask questions! people love to send you advise. you can ask on the board or ask someone in private email its ok. Take the time to respond if you get a question. make a difference :)

Hope all of you are having a wonderful Christmas day. Hoping the new year will bring wonderful things for all of us!
Just have 1 question Brat.....you say not to open before Valentine's Day but it is a valentine swap. I for one would rather enjoy it when I put out my runner's, etc...not to open 1 day and be over it. Why can't we open when we receive and enjoy it for a week or two?? Just a thought
