Our guild also does a President's challenge and all the blocks that are turned back in find their way into our yearly raffle quilt. Someone in the guild offers to 'make' the quilt while someone else may actually 'quilt' it. Then we take turns 'sitting' with the quilt at different venues and selling the raffle tickets. The money raised goes towards our next years monthly speakers/workshop expense. We have done it this way for year.

A number was on each and only the chairperson knew who had which colors.....no trading. We had to find fabrics to match the three paint chips, plus add one color of our choice. Nothing could be smaller than 18 inches. What fun we had with that one! Some people got colors they hated, but came up with wonderful little quilts and/or other quilted objects.

This sounds like a recent retreat challenge, instead of paint chips each person participating in the challenge chose 3 crayons. My colors were orange, lavender and blue, getting the lavender in what a challenge but I got it in somehow.

You could make a wall hanging using a color that the first letter is one of your initials. MJO initials could be maroon, jade and orchid or what ever your initials are.

You could also have a UFO swap. Everybody has them. Chose one and put in a bag and trade them with other members. It would be nice to finish a UFO.

Do you hold a planning meeting for the upcoming year? Our guild board meets prior to the January meeting and plans each months activities and speakers, etc. We print the schedule on the back of our Guild brochure that we distribute amongst the the members and the local quilt shop. The bi-fold brochure is very popular. I just make the changes on the Word file as needed.

The most fun of any project has been the Brown Bag. You put a bunch of fabric in a big brown bag and have the center quilted or just a big piece for the center. I was doing a Fall Theme, and just had a big piece of all colors of leaves.
Each month you get another person's project to work on, and yours goes to someone else also. The bags are passed 5 times.
It was so much fun to see what everyone had and to see who worked on whose project!
I loved it!!
Mariah.
