Oh, yes, I have orphans of different sizes too to swap. I just meant for a separate swap, if we are making NEW scrappy blocks, maybe we could have a planned pattern for that particular swap only. So, that would be 2 different swaps.

there is a quilt along just starting here on the board. I just printed my first block. don't know how to point you to it. maybe someone else here knows how. I'm going to work from my stash and do it scrappy. There will be an easy block and a more challenging block - 12" finish.

I do not have photos yet, but I did finally get to my UFOs that were just scrap blocks I cut up and put in their respective quilts. I want to thank you for setting out a couple of those ideas of using a fabric that is a constant. Sure did tone down the extreme amount of loud colors I was trying to put together and it helped in not having to match seams. I finished two tops yesterday. Then I did my flannel scrap quilt in large 9 patch squares. I had enough flannel scraps to make the whole top and had a backing fabric that has been waiting for the flannel quilt to be done so it is ready to go. May need to get that one quilted up sooner. The kids took my quilts for quilters swap blankets and the hubby is stealing all the covers off the bed and I want to stay warm. (LOL)

I think a scrappy block swap would be fun. It is my goal this years is to get my scraps down to at least one 55 gallon tub instead of the three I have now. So would be willing to do this one. I do agree that it needs to be a set block so we do have some unity to the scrap quilt, how about the spool block? That way it would pertain to quilting.

I am following this thread and seeing where it is going. All my fabric is FQ or smaller pretty much. How about maybe one of the patterns from Bonnie Hunt?

Maybe tweek those blocks to a little larger size such as 6" and then sew four together for a 12" block. That would work for me. I am trying to use my 1.3" squares for a postage stamp quilt.

I've been following too wondering what swap you'll end up with. I like the spools, but I love the disappearing nine patch. Also I like Bonnie Hunts patterns.

D9P is a fun block as well. That would go a lot faster for us. My mind is in productive mode of getting thru these scraps with the larger pieces first then working my way down to the small ones with the left overs from the big ones. My thought on the spools is that you can use any of your scrap light fabric for the background and any dark piece for the spool. This way you don't have to have a staple fabric like white or black. Funny you should show that Scrappy rainbow Star. I have one of those pin the process of my UFOs right now. I should dig it out and get it done. They take quite a bit of time in my mind at least. I am doing mine by foundation piecing instead of strips sewn together and then cut the triangle out. Mine is not blocks, it is one large quilt with star points. It is from a magazine and if I am lucky I put the magazine or book with the pattern. I believe I remember which one it is. Which also brings to mind. Another block, but has lots of little pieces, is the Kansas Troubles block. It is a wonderful scrap pattern as well.

All the block patterns sound fun...I'm open to doing just about any.
