Default Scrappy Quilt Block Swap

This mini swap is for any scrappy quilt block you want to make.
Unless otherwise asked for it is for a 12 1/2" quilt block
Your partner may ask for a diff size and if that is okay with you then go for it!

As always I need at least 4 people to make this swap work.

One of my shortcut blocks is my star point block. this is a unit or I call them blocks that you make by sewing fabric together and then cutting out a square from the center.

It is easy to do. This one takes a 30 degree cut so I do have templates I can send out for free upon request that will give you the 30 degree. but any ruler with a 30 degree on it will work just fine.

Here are the steps - I used scraps here but if you want to conserve fabric you can use triangles for this.

here are some things I've made with these shortcut blocks I call it my piece n cut method

tote bag / hot pad/ billfold/ key chains/and the last 3 are bookmarks. These are just a few.

I named this design on the tote bag - Birds in Flight

I love your star point block. I tried the attachment link, but it didn't work. I think I'll have to try those cute key chains.

Very cute especially the key chain, bottom right and one above it with the green borders. I could not get the link to work either. Feeling ready to try some even though they look scarey tiny. I think I have a 2 1/2 omnigrid square.

You just have to remember Anna that I do most things in miniature but that doesn't mean you have to. I'm most comfortable with 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" than I am with 4" or more LOL

You can make these shortcut blocks 12 1/2" if you so choose. it's all about the size of template you use.

When I first posted my methods on the QB in 2009 a friend of mine took one of my quilt blocks and made it into a 24" wall hanging she hung in her hallway. It is very flexible size wise. you are not locked into any particular size unless you are making a key chain or book mark etc.
