i got so involved in reading i forgot what i wanted to post! brain f--t! or mind fwoofy! can't wait to find out who my secret friend will be! i have soooo many projects i need to get done i'm in panic mode. so i spend all my time on the 'net.
well, whatever it is i was going to say was no doubt earth-shattering. but it will have to wait until my brain cycles around to functioning. sort of like the washing machine.

Nancia, you sure outdid yourself and made a little girl very happy. How thoughtful of you. Those bunny slippers are so cute. I admire anyone who has that kind of talent. Leeja, I think that Great Danes are not long lived like some other dogs. If they make it to 12 years, I have heard that is good. Still what a hard time for your friends. Linda, I have just one cat and he is king of the house. We have a cat door for him but he only uses it when we are not around or in bed at night. Otherwise, he has servants to let him in and out. I know, I know, we spoil him. Since everyone is telling stories, I will add one. When I was a tiny child, my mom would sit me down on the floor in the kitchen and let me play in her (clean) rag drawer. She said I would entertain myself for a long time, taking things in and out and looking everything over. Then as a 10-12 year old and living where there was no tv and only the outside to entertain us, one of my fun things to do was play in the dirt, except I would not build roads but instead build graveyards with little mounds of dirt and tiny pieces of flowers on each grave.I know, macabre but that's me. Now I have to laugh because it seems I am reverting to childhood once again. I am back to playing with little scraps of fabric and love looking at each one and seeing what I can create with it. Plus doing genealogy and putting ancestors on Find-a-grave.com. Guess what goes around comes around. :-)

my earliest memories are quite scattered. i remember a plastic donald duck doll, and i can still smell it and taste it. i believe that was 60 yrs ago, i was 2. then i remember a dark vial of beads my babysitter gave me. i dropped it and beads went everywhere. i recall picking them out of a dark braided rug that we had for years and years. we moved alot and that rug moved with us. i recall literally sitting at my mother's feet while she sewed on the featherweight and i cut and draped 'clothes' on my dolls. i would sew them by hand. i was about 5 when mom let me use the machine. can't tell you how many garments were sewn on that machine. i had 2 sisters and all 4 of us made most of our own clothes on the featherweight. i inherited my dgm's treadle machine and made one simple dress on it, and my hat's off to those of you who sew quilts on a treadle! my co-ordination just isn't that good!

My first sewing memory was playing under the table while mother sewed. I'd take the cover for her sewing machine and turn the latches to make seats for my Weebles so they could give speeches, lol. I never was allowed to mess with her sewing machine though, so I never got to sew until I took home economics in 7th or 8th grade. By then mother had pretty much stopped sewing. I didn't get to sew again until I made that outfit I mentioned previously for a competition in 12th grade.

I got married in December, 1991. We got married at the courthouse because my parents had just been here when we lost our oldest son in October. I was 7-1/2 months pregnant with him. It was a freak of nature that both my parents made the trip. Anyway, about a week later I got an automated call from Sears that my order was ready for pickup. I called the store & found out it was a sewing machine that had been ordered in New York, where my mother lives. I've been sewing ever since.
