I think some of you have had too much apple butter so it really should come to my house. I like apples and have never had apple butter!!! That is the truth no fibs, but it sounds delicious. Also read somewhere about pumpkin butter, thought someone had even wrote down the recipe. I've looked and looked and now I can't find it, anyone know where it is or was I dreaming?? My giftee will get either strawberry or raspberry, can't remember which 1 I put in the box..

My box is packed and ready to mail... couldn't wrap all the pressies because then they wouldn't all fit nicely without tearing
But you will have fun figuring out the wrapped ones ....

Took a mental health day today. Just sat in front of my machine and sewed squares of donated fabric together to make tops for nursing home lap robes. Others in our quilt club will back and quilt. It was nice not thinking very much.
Have my box almost filled. Need to wrap and get it to the PO, but I'm going on a mini shop hop on Nov 4 so may have to wait just in case something jumps in my hands that HAS to go in the box. With all the talk about apple butter I can't decide between that and chocolate for my giftee.

I think I will start wrapping my SS stuff tonight and see how much room is left, if any.

I used to make apple butter years ago when the kids were young. That was a whole lotta work and very time consuming waiting for it to get just the right consistency. Crock pot might work these days.

I have made applesauce in crock pot too. But apple butter has to be a little thicker and takes a whole lot longer to cook to give it that nice dark rich color.

Yes, I put it on toast. But I don't eat much toast any more, so therefore I eat very little apple butter. I used to put it on my kids PBJ sandwiches to change them up a bit. It is also really good to use as a sauce to put over a ham when you bake it.

I don't think it's too early - gives you more time to have to stare at it, lol

But it's much more fun if it is sitting there and staring back at you...
Beware...if the package seems to take itself to different locations of the house...Terri had one of those a couple of years back...it even made noises!

Yummy Apple butter. I made my 1st batch last year. I used lots of Wild apples, a 64 oz apple juice, all those apple pie
type spices and 1 c. sugar. Boiled down until I got the thickness that I wanted. I gave some for gifts. Hoarded the rest for toast, waffles, pancakes, biscuits, ham glaze, on pork chops/ roast and even chicken. Oh Man!!! Soo Gooood!!!

I did a little shopping for my SS. Hoping that she likes what I'm coming up with.

    Toodles,
