Mary, the size of the double potholder depends on the pattern. Mine was 24" long and 8" wide. The "pockets" were around 6" x 8". If you Google you will find many tutorials, and each has a little different spin.

Thanks , I'll check it out. I seen a couple free patterns but thought I would ask to see what size worked good for those of you making them.I wouldn't want them too short. lol.

I am not great at this type of sewing but have made more than a dozen of these potholders. Try one.

Maybe I should have taken a different angled picture.lol. These are simple to make and after my partner gets hers I will gladly help anyone to make them. I'm going to make a double pot holder if I don't get one in the swap. Lynnie the length is what I was wondering about so it would go around a lasagna or large baking dish of rolls or a turkey etc. Thanks ladies as usual very good help and nice comments.

Mine are 31" x 7". Really handy for taking a hot cookie sheet out of the oven. How about those microwave bowl holders?
Good for reheating leftovers & sitting on the couch! Or going back to bed w a bowl of oatmeal ! Stay tuned!!

So, quick question (before I commit). Does a 2 handed potholder count as one or two potholders? (playing Devil's advocate here)

Yeah I would think it as two also. Dotty I made my husband one of the microwave bowl covers. He eats a lot of soup and left overs for lunch. It's great. I got a tute off of you tube for mine.
