Default Sign up deadline August 21st for " Not your mamma's hot pad" swap.

Sign up for August 2013 “Not your momma’s hot pad” Swap

You will make one hot pad to be swapped with one partner. The hot pad should have enough batting to protect a table from a hot item sitting on it. If you choose, your hot pad may hang. The shape of your hot pad may vary, however the minimum overall size should be 7” x 9”. Have fun creating something unusual. Think outside the box. The theme should be universal and not a holiday theme. Think of all things “Hot” .

You will not be able to sign up if you have any outstanding swaps unfulfilled.

To join the fun, just copy and paste the following in a pm to me no later than August 21[SUP]st.

[/SUP]

Your Real Name_________________________
Board Name_____________________________
Mailing Address__________________________
Email Address___________________________
International Shipping ; yes_______________no_____________
I have read & understand the swap guidelines; yes___________

SWAP GUIDELINES:

I am required to insist that participants send me a monthly PM to verify that they are still active in this swap and are working on their promised project.

I am required to insist that participants notify me as soon as they have finished their quilt and are ready to mail it.

Absent legitimate and reported mitigating circumstances, participants who have not fulfilled their obligation to ship by September 7th shall be deemed “late” and risk receiving Negative [Swap] Feedback.

Please keep in touch with me as required as well as your partners. Please let me know right away if something happens that will interfere with your ability to complete your project on time.

Swappers should treat each other as friends and focus on the fun. So … please be prepared to be flexible, patient and understanding if necessary and appropriate.

Partner Assignment: Partners will be assigned on Aug 23rd.
Mailing Deadline: You must have your quilt in the mail no later than September 7th. Once I have received notice that both partners are done and ready to mail, I will send both a PM to let them know it’s time to mail. I am required to insist that all participants send me verification of shipment, to include tracking information.
Participants are required to ensure packages will not arrive “postage due.”
Any and all other fees, such as import duties, taxes, etc. imposed by the recipient’s government are the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Project Guideline:

SIZE:
7”x 9” minimum, can vary a few inches up if you decide.

MATERIALS: I recommend; Cotton thread, Cotton fabric & cotton batting, cotton rope, any natural fibers however you may use your own judgment.

EMBELLISHMENTS: Well… use your own judgment. ie; cotton embroidery floss. Your hot pad may have a hanger on it, if you decide.

CONSTRUCTION: You may; piece, applique
, whole cloth, quilt by hand or quilt by machine.

LABEL: Please add a removable label

PHOTOS: Take a photo if your project before you mail it, once your partner has received it ask her to post a picture, if she can’t.. Please post a picture for her.

PARTNERS: Once sign up has ended, I will assign partners. Please PM your partner to share physical addresses. Do not post addresses on this thread.

Sent my PM! now if everyone would consider using insulated batting not regular cotton batting that would be wonderful. regular batting can burn you if you try to use that for your potholders and also wont protect your tables from those marvelous white marks that a hot item can leave. just a thought....

well swappers jump on in! this is fun! ab feel free to post a little note in my tablerunner swap that you have a new swap going and all are welcome I am thinking my mom used those wicker like things in the center of the table and she also had this trivet she used that was what I thought was a resin owl but now I am thinking maybe it wasn't resin or it wouldn't hold a hot dish without melting right? oh it was truly beautiful LOL burnt orange, olive green, mustard gold all to match that stove, fridge and oven! egad. so ok it wont be either of those things which leaves me open to making something that might be actually trend friendly. I don't enjoy making modern style things very much they throw me for a loop.. so is it ok to make a modern color but traditional style one? hum.. now its a thinking thing.

Where is everyone! maybe the word hot pad threw them? mug rugs are all the rage why not hot pads? I made a starter piece the other day but the points in the center two got lost which irked me terrifically. They were all done with a 60 degree template so the hexagon shape was great! the pieces were great! the colors definitely not my mommas type at all. We had German style things all over our house. Non of that well cant say the word my mom used (cr..) all the time when she thought things were inferior. But now I am back to square one. I will not be making an olive owl or a bunch of people dancing in the black forest.. I promise.. but.. that leaves a whole lot of options in the making
