If I was participating - which I'm not - so perhaps I should not say anything -

I would want everyone to be using the same pattern- I just looked up "Churn Dash" in "Enclyclopedia Of Pieced Quilt Patterns" compiled by Barbara Brackman - and there were four blocks with the name of Churn Dash.

A couple of those blocks had several other names, too - so it could be confusing.

So - I am not sure how much "variety" the participants want - or are expecting.

For myself, I would prefer the blocks to be the same as far as pattern and size.

One option for shipping that saves a bit and can include tracking is to use Paypal shipping - if you use a Flatrate envelope it is really easy - https://www.paypal.com/shiplabel/create/
On the flat rate envelopes it saves about $1 in shipping. I also save all of the poly envelopes that things come in and reuse them for shipping. I just weigh things and use paypal or take them to the PO. If you use the paper Flat rate envelopes please use additional tape on them. They are much flimsier than they used to be and usually don't make the trip in one piece any longer. The padded flat rate envelopes fare much better, but have to be ordered from the PO.

I would like to join this swap! I am not new to the board but I just retired in June so I can devote more time to a swap now. I am fine with either wow or cream, although I've seen many Churn Dashes with Cream and since it is such an old design it seems to work well. However, I agree with Givio in that everyone's interpretation of colors can be very subjective. I absolutely love the "floral" idea, but I will go with the consensus. Armylady thank you!

I failed to mention that I like the spring floral idea - is the center square to the solid or can it be embroidered or a fussy cut floral? Plus I have never done a block swap here - is the fabric to be pre-washed?

I would prefer wow and spring florals but to me spring florals aren’t just Pastels, think of the deep purple of the Iris etc. I would love to see the swap with either a coc or wow with florals Churn Dash. That gives us lots of options.

Can I be interested without committing yet?

My vote would be:

White on white background (as I agree that "cream" means a lot of variation, not all of which look good with pastels or brights)

Spring colors (florals and prints both okay; with brights and pastels being okay)

I would say no novelty fabrics (ie no Easter motifs).
