Smile The Drywall Is Up!

Howdy y'all

The drywall is up in my new sewing room! It's really coming together quickly! The "finisher" will be here on Monday to fill in the cracks and holes, then it will be painted a coral color. Today the men are coming to take the old gutters down, replace the wood they are attached to, then replace the gutters with the downspouts running into a rain barrel. The Pergo flooring I ordered will be here on Monday, but may not be installed for a couple of weeks because the men are also building me a new, bigger chicken coop! Because of the colder weather, they are going to paint the walls of the coop inside the sewing room so the paint will dry, so the floor won't be installed until after that is completed.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of the drywall. The first picture is directly to the right of the door, and is where the old slide-up garage door is. They had to come in about 6" to cover the rails that the door slid up on. There will be a 10' long kitchen countertop installed in front of it with four cabinets with drawers underneath it. Enjoy!

You're getting there! Bet you can't wait to move into your studio. Do you have a completion date set?

Donna, your space is going to be great! Can you tell me more about the air/heat unit? My husband wants to do something like that in his garage.

We really don't have a completion date set because of the outdoor work still needing to be done. The original plan was to have it done by Thanksgiving, but because all of the painting that needs to be done on the chicken coop walls, they will have to be painted inside the sewing room, then taken out to be assembled. I believe it has to be 65 degrees in order for paint to dry, and it hasn't been that warm here for at least a couple of weeks. The gutter work that was supposed to have been done today had to be cancelled because of rain. So completion pretty much depends on the weather.

Kathy, I honestly don't know the brand of the unit or the BTU's, but it's very similar to the unit at this link:

All I have to do is set it to the temperature I want and it stays that temp inside no matter what the weather is like outside. They are a bit pricey, but my contractor was able to get mine, including the installation price, for $2,100. Considering that there is a separate installation kit that has to be bought separately that is also pretty pricey, I think he got me a pretty good deal!

I share your excitement...I remodeled last year and know how nice it is to have a designated sewing room. I look forward to seeing more of your updates.
