Laminate flooring is every room of our house, except the Bathrooms and kitchen. When we bought the house it had new carpet in the bedrooms, out it went. With pets it stays cleaner and I am diabetic and have a fear of a pin hiding in the carpet. With the laminate I generally hear it hit and I keep a magnet that pulls out to get the little boogers.

I work from home. My personal and work computer share a space. My sewing machines have another space across the room. At one point I had the heavy plastic floor protectors often seen in officer under both sewing chair and working chair but that didn't seem to work out. Mostly because I knew I could save time if I could only "roll" between stations. And I was right...I pulled up the carpet and put down some inexpensive vinyl flooring from Home Depot. It was affordable, looks great and I'm rolling, rolling, rolling! I highly recommend non-carpet flooring for any hobby room.

Our house is a modular so I had the choice of carpet or vinyl (without an upcharge). I chose vinyl. I hated the carpet in my old sewing room. If I dropped a pin, it always landed point up.

I live in an old house and have pulled up all the carpet to expose the hardwood floors.....I love it.
So easy to keep clean with one of the damp Swiffers. Though our wood floors are cold in the winter sometimes.

Hardwood or laminate throughout! Love it for many various reasons!

I would like to pull out the carpet but it is still in good shape so really have no reason to do it. Also for me it would be one heck of a lot of work to move everything out of the sewing room, lay the floor and then move everything back in. You are in a position to do it so go for it!! I think you would love it.

I have cork on the floor in my sewing room. They are tiles 11 3/4" square. They have a coating to protect from moisture damage and I think they feel warmer on bare feet than laminate. They were installed (glued down) when we built our house 23 years ago. The room was originally a bedroom for my sons. Very easy to clean, just vacuum.

We had our carpet replaced with laminate a couple of years ago, I love it. So much easier to clean and with two kitties, I can sweep up the fur fluffs instead of them disappearing into the carpet.

My husband however pouts that his feet are cold...
