Do you have layer cakes? How do you store them?

Right now, my layer cakes are stored upright in plastic boxes that would hold file folders. Coordinating fabric (yardage) is stored together with the layer cakes. The extra yardage is not in the stash stack.

But I don't see them like the stash on shelves so don't think of using them for my projects.

Do you have other good ideas for storing them?

I use ArtBin clear 12” boxes for just about every stored project or fabric that needs to lie flat.

I have never found it to be an issue since the way my studio is designed allows for me to use narrow pull out drawers in a cabinet to store layer c.akes and other charms and jelly rolls I would thin that the kind of totes made for under the bed would be just right

I also use the Artbin 12" boxes....stack them on top of a chest of drawers I use for fabric storage or on the shelf in the closet. I don't purchase a lot of layer cakes though.

I use a file cabinet, works great to see what I have.

I use a Longaberger basket. Fits perfect.

I keep my layer cakes flat on a shelf with Cake mixes under them. They are easy to grab and use when going to Bee. I also have precut neutrals with the layer cakes so I can easily use them.

I use Isis Scrap Book cases, which i guess are much like the Art Bin ones referenced above for all my projects. I have one for each project. There is enough room for a layer cake, coordinating yardage, other precuts, thread and the pattern. I can lay a 12.5 inch block flat in the bottom. If a project has any specialty ruler, notions, etc, they go into the bin too. It is easy to take to sew in days.

I have a simple wooden shelf that I bought at Ikea and painted, that holds the bins per shelf, and I have them adjusted to allow me to stack them 5 high per shelf. Don't do the math, you will be able to calculate how many projects I have in various stages. Although most of it is in the idea stage, and not cut.
