You have done a great job with your space! I like the looks of the white units with the colored boxes in it, they are enclosed enough to keep out dust and light. Very nice, I bet you enjoy it.

You did a wonderful job organizing the space you have!!! It drives me crazy when I can't find something.

Necessity is indeed the mother of invention with so many baby boomers are downsizing either by choice or forced to not by choice. Learning how to make any space work individually is sometimes a challenge, it looks as though you have made this space personally yours. This works for you and that's what is important, thank-you for sharing which is where many find inspiration!

I always chuckle at how people organize their sewing rooms. Several years ago I bought IKEA bookshelves, added some doors on the bottom half of two of them, and had my organizer friend come stay with me for several days. She really worked hard - we put all the books on shelves, magazines in magazine boxes, assorted stash in fabric boxes similar to those shown in this thread, and everything looked so beautiful. My sewing room was neat as a pin when we finished. I laid awake that night, puzzled, because something wasn't quite right for me. I finally realized that as a "VISUAL" person, I was unhappy having everything put out of sight! I wanted to enjoy the view when I was in there, so we took a few glass jars and put scraps in them so I could enjoy the fabric. Then we made labels for each of the fabric storage boxes -- a plaid label for the plaids; an oriental label for the oriental fabrics, etc. and then I was one happy lady!!!

Love the storage containers. I'm one that has to have everything behind closed doors or pretty baskets.

I have fabric stored in baskets which I labelled with small hang tags. That way I know what is in each basket without having to pull it out and open it. Saves me a lot of time.
