I have one of theses tables and have been considering taking the table tops off the legs and attaching them to some cube like shelving units. Of course, I lose the mobility, but am thinking I can do without that feature.

Instead of altering the table, could you get a typist's chair which you can alter the height of? Angi

Have someone cut off the legs to a more comfortable height and then put the rollers back on. My DH put the wheels on a huge cabinet so we can roll the TV out from the wall when we wanted to watch it. It is not a hard job at all.

Good to hear from othe 'altitude challenged' ladies. Last time measured, I dropped below 5'! Am considering cutting legs of sewing tables that I inherited from DM(5'6"). Rollers or gliders will be my solution.

I would hate for you to loose the movability too. Do you know anyone who can make a 2' x 4' platform out of 2 by 6's.
That would give you 6" of height and make it so you can slide it under the table when not using it. Or even make it as long as the table is when it is extended.

My problem is just the opposite. I am 5'9" and end up with a back ache when I use anything to cut my fabric, etc

Good Luck

I too am 5' & have that table. Now I love the height & sometimes wish it were higher. My lower back gives me fits so the higher would be of a big help.

I am 5' and it hurts my shoulders if I have to stand at that table very long. I took the wheels off, have small moving men under the legs (of course my table doesn't get moved very often). It works so much better. What made me think of that was I removed the wheels on both my sewing cabinets, much easier to set and sew. My chair was up as high as it wud go so had to think of something. It works for this shorty.. ;o)

After taking the wheels off, if it's still a little too high, you could go to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy a couple of those rubber mats to stand on. That will make standing at your cutting table more comfortable, and it will raise YOU up a couple inches.

Instead of a stool how about something like a railway sleeper the width of a foot or more. And place on the floor all down sides you use.
