Pahega, I made my own cutting table. I used the bottom half of 2 custom made bookcases (with doors for books) to hold the plywood. I had ordered 5/8" plywood but realized too late they sent me 1/2". I varnished it..4' x 8'. I ordered a reversible self-healing mat from online to fit the new table, added a trim piece to the edges to keep it from shifting.....not that it ever would as heavy as it is. I have one small sewing machine sitting at one end just for adding long borders or binding to the quilts. This gives me lots of room to move the quilt around instead of it hanging over the side.

The pressing table is again a piece of plywood....2' x 4'......covered it with some leftover 100% cotton batting I had laying around.....2 layers.............picked up some ticking fabric and stapled it from the underneath side. I had some metal "L" brackets laying around in my workshop......(yes, I play with power tools too) and attached them on the underside to keep the plywood from shifting when pressing my fabrics. Still need to tweak it as when I'm pressing hard on one end it occasionally pops up so need to remedy that problem. Otherwise I love my pressing station.

My design wall to the left though you may not be able to see it in my pics will be made up of 1.5" styrafoam cut to fit my area...........96W x 70L with a flannel piece cut to one size. The one I have now is just old batting stapled to wood pieces. Works okay but not as well as I'd like.

Thanks for looking.
So you attached the pressing board that you made to your ironing board? Where did you get the cutting mat online? Are you happy with your dimensions for the cutting table and ironing station. Did you make a sewing table, too? Are any of these things on wheels? Thanks for your input!

What a wonderful hideaway! I might never surface again if I had that wonderful space to play in. Enjoy!

What a wonderful sewing room/fabric storage area! I would feel right at home there, since I also like to be organized! You have done a great job with it all! Congratulations! BTW, I like books, too, although I don't have as many as you do! Thank you for sharing this with all of us!

Your room looks like a well organized quilt shop.

I really like your idea to hang the batting from the rafters. The organization should only increase your sewing joy!

And I thought I had a lot of material. But no sewing room to organize it at this time.

A wonderful sewing room & soon a library. All I would need is a coffee maker & small frig & I'd be set.
