Default Craft/Sewing Room - Update # 4: Let There Be Light

Update #4 in the building of my sewing room - posts 1-3 are linked below.

Update #3: http://www.quiltingboard.com/mission...g-t175028.html
Update # 2:
Craft/Sewing Room - Update # 2
First Post: Craft/Sewing Room - The Before Pictures

I called this "Let There Be Light" but perhaps I should have said, "Let There Be Wiring" as that's what got done today. The picture below shows the cabinet wall, with the outlets at backsplash height. There are actually 3 outlets across this wall, but you can only see two in the photo. (When I moved into the house, which I bought new, there were all these spray painted arrows and symbols on the cement basement walls. No idea why. I often wondered why anyone would need to know which way was up on a cement basement wall, but the world needs all kinds...)

The picture below shows the some of the ceiling wiring for the 6 pot lights. They will be on a dimmer switch.

There was nothing to report from Wednesday to Friday of last week as my contractor was "...just finishing up another small job". 'Cause you know how they always promise that they will only work on your job, but they actually work on others at the same time. He's indicated that mine is now the only job going on. The only hitch is that his wife is due to give birth to their second child on Friday; they already have a toddler. So he will be off for I don't know how long when the baby comes. That's OK, I knew this when I hired him. (But the waiting is killing me!)

Pot lights - Oh, wonderful! I have got to get some ceiling lights to shine over my ironing table. I have a floor lamp now, but some track lighting would be a lot better. Your room is coming along. Can't wait to see the walls and the rest of the room.

Kate, your room is going to be beautiful!!! I can't remember if I asked you before or not. Where is Ottawa are you? I lived there for awhile. I worked at the Costco in Nepean and the one in Kanata. My son and his wife still live in Carleton Place. Wendy

Kate,
How exciting. I'm sure the wait seems intolerably long but surely when it is completed you will look back and say how it was all worth the wait.

Pot lights???? Don't know these-would you please explain.

Keep us posted. This has been fun watching the development of the space. A couple of years ago in my 'Performance Review' my Team Leader asked if I could have any job what would I choose; without a moments thought I responded, 'Either marine patrol or a home builder.' Her response was, 'Yep, I can see that.'

best,
d

Kate...on the new construction that I have seen, the crew boss will often have several houses going up at once, so he goes in and just inspects as the work progresses..often they will spray paint to point out a spot he thinks needs something, so when the crew comes in the next morning, they see what to fix. On that pic, up at the top, it looks likes there's a hurricane clip there? or something to secure the pieces...my guess would be they skipped a clip(if that's what it is)...or something along those lines...codes regulations designate everything from the number of fasteners in each application, to the spacing, etc...so the crews go along at a fast clip, and the boss comes in behind them and check, and marks!!
