Bedside Caddy...Or?
 

I saw this fabric caddy this morning and it got me thinking. It has pockets to store things like the remote, you phone, a couple of magazines, reading glasses, etc. and slips between the mattresses to hold it in place. I was thinking of making these for my kids for Christmas.

I think that you could modify this idea and use it for the sewing room too. I would put mine under my sewing machine and let it hand down off the desk. The beige linen is a nice look, but for my sewing room, I'd go scrappy and colorful.

For my mom I made a wheel chair caddy and for DH one for his walker. They get a great deal of use from then and they always seem to be full. I used velcro to keep them in place around the front of the walker and the same on the arm of mom's wheel chair. The idea of making one that goes to the side of the bed is great. I have another one that hangs from the rung of a quilt frame over the top of our bed. I love these handy dandy caddys.

The addition of velcro is a great idea!

Back when my daughter was in middle school (15 years ago), she had bunk beds in her room and always slept on the top bunk. She would just toss stuff over the side at night since she couldn't reach a surface to place them on. So I made her a caddy with pockets to put her book, game boy, etc. in. It was plain cotton duck, not very pretty, but it worked and she even used it in college. I made it with velcro straps so it could hang from the safety rails on the bunk.

Another idea...instead of velcro, you could make a double caddy and have the fabric run all the way under the mattress from one caddy to the caddy on the other side.

Made these for 2 friends for their armchairs. If you want them for armchairs be sure to measure UNDER the cushion and over the arm to the height you want. Arms on chairs can be very different.. They still comment on how much they like them.

I have one hanging off my head board and two hanging in my sewing room (hand sewn). Hanging caddies are great for storage. Heck, I even have one hanging off my fridge door for small things.
