Hi everyone,
I have been so busy and so tired with finishing the house and lots of negatives happening in my life so hopefully we will back to living a normal stress free life, if I told you what has happenend since the house burnt down you would cry buckets, then to top it all of the air conditioner in my sewing room in the shed broke down and it is to hot to work in there during the day unless I get up at 5 AM so I have temporarily moved into the spare room of the house, ( much to Dh's annoyance as he wanted all my craft and sewing out of the house, LOL) so here are some pictures of my temporary sewing room. the skirt is a piece of fabric I picked up for $1.00 it was rolled up with an elastic band I was going to use it for quilting till I got it home and saw the lovely panel down one side, it was just enough to make a skirt but as I had to put the seem down the front because of the panel I made a pleat,
Hope you like my temp room LOL

Looks great! Bother with him, he can get over you being in the house :)
Love the skirt, hope things settle for you soon.

Great size room! The skirt is lovely. Did you do the embroidery?

No it came like that and I didn't even know it was there till I unrolled it, I buy a lot of material from an op shop they sell it for $1.00 a roll no matter how big or small and it is all rolled up I just liked the colour and was going to use it in a quilt till I opened it, LOL

amyjo 01-04-2013 09:36 PM

Isn't it your house too? Why should you have to be out of the house with your work unless you wanted to shut yourself off out there. Peanuts on him!!!!!!!

We are all so funny....we applaud and brag on our husbands because they "are so understanding and supportive." But let one have an odd comment or quirk....then we're all over them like they are the most vile, evil creatures! My goofy hubs said (and I'm telling the truth here) that when they put the ears on my potato head, they put them on uneven! Oh, he's not forgetting that for a while! He was joking and it's funny as heck (I really am not angry) but I'm going to take advantage. I told him today that my potato head needs time to figure out how much fabric his comment will cost him. I suggest you do the same. You need a nice little stash in that temp room.

I love it in the shed it is fully insulated and big enough for my quilting machine and long bed, plus on Monday afternoon I have up to 3 friends come over to sew or chat no men allowed, Private womens business LOL but without the air con it is just to hot. I will leave my stash out there and just get what I want as I need it, I do love my DH to Bits but he knows that I can get quite untidy when it comes to my sewing room and my shed is 9mtrs /4.5 mtrs great space to work in.
I had a problem on a cat site after I had to give away half my cats 23 of them after the accident and got accused of dumping them. the response was like a pack of wolves in for the kill they didn't even bother to ask why I gave them away.
I am still trying to recover as is my husband, I have 3 bulging disks and one is pressing on the spine, still waiting for the specialist appointment to see if anything can be done.

Nice room, and you're saving him money by making your own clothing! (Snicker!) Enjoy the room and may everything be better for you in this new year.

katesnanna 01-05-2013 06:06 AM

Great skirt, love the color. Tell DH if he wants you out get the AC fixed. I love my outside sewing/quilting room. I was out there until 9.45pm tonight. I'd been out there most of the day, quilting. Went out after dinner. DH doesn't mind. I hope things are looking up for you. I couldn't imagine having a house burn down. Happy quilting in your temporary space.

TinkerQuilts 01-05-2013 07:24 AM

Your room looks like a great place to sew and forget about your worries, and those who cause you to worry. I'm so sorry your house burned down but glad you and DH will be okay. Hope the discs in your spine can be repaired - that's so painful, but if the docs do it right, you'll be good as new! Happy sewing!!!

vondae 01-05-2013 07:50 AM

Not your fault the A/C went out. Until it gets fixed, what else were you to do? Got To Quilt & Sew!!! He can overlook it for a while. Thank goodness you have a little space in the house to use. Hard to think of it being so hot there. It was 14 degrees here this AM. God Bless you & that Hubby. Oh, and keep smiling. Keep him wondering. Lol.

JeannieT 01-05-2013 08:02 AM

Hope things get better for you in this new year.....go sew.....

sewhat540 01-05-2013 09:33 AM

Wait for the time he needs something sewn.....ah, sorry honey, my room was moved right!....well, too bad.

I know we jump on one downer but that is ok, they complain too and don't think how we feel about things. We if lived the way they would want then, you would move out. We have many items started but we finish. Maybe, he will get the hint.

mighty 01-05-2013 10:18 AM

So sorry about all the bad that has happened!!!! Your new room is terrific!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!

psailer 01-05-2013 11:39 AM

count your blessings not your sorrows... they just make us stronger... God will never give us more than we can handle and he is always right there with us... so happy both you and your husband are okay... we had a house fire in 1989 lost everything but the family and guess what we all recovered and are stronger for it...
hope your back gets well too will add you to my prayer list...

marla 01-05-2013 01:28 PM

I am so sorry to read about your fire. May God bless you with a wonderful 2013.

MimiBug123 01-05-2013 08:31 PM

A friend sent me an e-mail that just slapped me where it hurt. It said, "Until God opens the door for you, praise Him in the hall." I thought that was meant just for me, because I sure have been complaining about lots of things I could change. Aren't we funny creatures?

imnywoman 01-05-2013 08:57 PM

Nice space. Good luck with everything and hope things are getting better for you.

maryellen2u 01-05-2013 09:01 PM

I love your skirt. I am so sorry about your house fire. My gosh what a nightmare! I am so so sorry about your back. I've benn there done that and I can feel your pain. Good luck with that! I think your sewing room is lovely and I do understand about loving your big space. However, I think you should stop calling it temporary. Then maybe your hubby will get the air conditioner fixed faster!! Take good care of yourself-you are the only one of you for all of us to enjoy!

ube quilting 01-06-2013 09:09 AM

I am very glad to hear you have been alowed in the house. This attitude in the 21st century! I think I'd be putting DH in the workshop.

I would also have to make sure I had a sewing project or magazine in every room.
peace

EDIT: god has nothing to do with being disimpowered by any man.

miss_ticky2 01-06-2013 04:00 PM

Good to hear from you again but so sorry to hear that you are still having negatives after your fire. Just hang in there and things will improve. At least you do still have somewhere to sew and hopefully you can get your a/c fixed quickly and get back to 'your space'. Hoping 2013 is a much better year for you :)

litacats 01-07-2013 02:37 AM

thanks everyone, at last I had some spare time to make use of my new room today and one of my friends came along she only read some quilting mags but she found a cushion called flannel flower windows but I can't make head or tail of the instructions GRRRR

Country1 01-07-2013 04:54 AM

Sorry to hear about the fire. I am sure you lost alot a things that were very important to you and your family. BUT most importantly you all are okay!...
I like your space. I hope you get your air fixed so you can have your own our special place again.
Your skirt is adorable! Prayers are being sent your way!
Blessings to you,
Penny

we were overwelmed by the generousity of our brothers and sisters in our congregation and the kindeness of perfect strangers. the whole experience has helped to make our faith stronger, even with all the negatives, we prayed for help to forgive those who hurt us some we thought were goodfriends, we are still coping with the problems they caused us, but most of the trouble makers are being found to have lied about us and have lost all credibility, even the shire ranger was found to have lied and is now no longer a ranger we didn't have to do a thing the truth will out eventually

DH and I have been married long enough, that when he makes such a discussion,I smile, say " yes dear" and just go ahead and do what I want to anyway. His latest: photograph and file pictures of everything in my stash! Little does he know,,," yes Dear".

mjhaess 01-07-2013 12:07 PM

Nice sewing area...Tell your husband it is what it is and get over it....I would stay there it looks nice....

kathmass 01-07-2013 04:54 PM

So sorry to hear about your house fire. I too had a house fire many years ago. Worst thing that ever happened, but everyone survived including the dog who had smoke inhalation. Definitely not the way to redecorate!
