The Beginning!!!

Howdy y'all ☺

The workers came yesterday and started on converting our "spare garage" into my sewing room! Here are a couple of pictures to show you what we're working with. As you can see, we have a bunch of stuff to get rid of or make room for. You can also see that all of the outlets were placed yesterday, even though electricity hasn't been run to the building yet. I will have a total of 24 outlets! The men are currently working on putting in the first of three windows plus a walk-in door. Suppoesly, it's going to take them about 2 weeks to get their part of the renovation done. Well...enough of me rambling on and on. Here are the pictures!! 😃

What an exciting time for you!! I am looking forward to hearing the progress of your new room!

Looks like fun times ahead. Who is going to take all your "old hobbies" to the goodwill or landfill? We only have room for fabric, sewing machines, and cutting tables! LOL

Jane, those are all things that my in-laws had stored in there. Most of it will be sold, but the shelves will go into our attached garage!

Oh, it's going to be fun watching the progress. If it were me I'd get first dubs on the shelves for the time being. You might be able to use them. If not, you can always send them to the garage later.

Please keep us posted!

I share your excitement...we raised the ceiling on our two-car garage in January to put in dormers to create a sewing room (since I have taken over the two spare bedrooms). We have had an unusually cold spring and several snow storms which have delayed the progress but I hope to have it done end of April.

You were smart to have so many outlets installed. Can't wait to see your arrangement and the transition as it unfolds. Congrats.

That will be a really nice space! Keep us posted as to progress. So interesting!!

Agree on the shelves. If the pink cabinet is working redoing it would be beautiful. Good luck.

I would have gotten everything out before work was started. Just me.
When it is finished you will have a nice sewing room.

Mariposa 03-25-2017 07:45 PM

I'm happy for you! Glad you will have a nice space all your own! :)

Sounds like a great plan that leaves many of us a little 'green'!!! Will look forward to your future postings. I thought 'I' did good this past week by cleaning off the shelves of a 5 foot long 'grocery bread rack' with six metal adjustable shelves that I purchased about four years ago for some of my fabric, but it only made it to the back porch and thus accumulated many odd items. So...when I was almost done finding rightful places for the accumulated, hubby says, 'when you get that done, that rack is going to the dump'. Ummmm, "NO", I said, "I originally bought it for fabric and since you won't build me shelves it will be exchanged with the small two shelf bookcase in the sewing room.".....and I'm sticking to it!!! It's quite heavy & sturdy and I will cover the shelves with clear vinyl & remnant fabrics and will be good to go.

cashs_mom 03-26-2017 07:32 AM

Wow, how exciting! So how are you progressing?

lots2do 03-27-2017 04:06 AM

That is exciting! I'll look forward to watching the progress and hope that things go very smoothly.

ljptexas 03-27-2017 06:07 AM

Wow! Good for you, sewing pal!!!

Nammie to 7 03-27-2017 06:34 AM

Lucky Lady! You will end up with a wonderful space. Lots of work ahead but it will be worth it.

Annaquilts 03-27-2017 06:40 AM

Congratulations! That is so exciting. Be sure to put in a lot of insulation both in the ceiling and walls. You won't regret.
