I use the pony tail thingies, too. I use my mother's old spindle that she used to keep the bills on to stack the bobbins.

I have several machines with different bobbins for all of them so I have to keep like bobbins together. I store all my machine accessories in a plastic pencil box (I buy them at Walmart, they usually cost $1 right before school starts in late summer) and I have a box designated for each machine. This bobbin storage tunnel fits great in the pencil box.

I have several different machines and most of them use different bobbins. This is what I use for bobbin boxes.

p.s. sometimes you can find them at Walmart, they are clear colored.

Sears Hardware stores have awesome divided boxes in all sizes. I have several of them for machine needles, thread, feet, buttons, whatever. Why did I never think of putting bobbins in them?

when I still have thread on the bobbin and I am finished with that color on top, I put both of them together in a small plastic zip bag (found in the jewelry section at Hobby Lobby or other craft store.) This way the correct bobbin is with the correct color and weight and poly or cotton without me having to think about it. Of course, you need a lot of bobbins to do this and I keep a good supply.

i found some little foam things [not the set for the whole foot] that you put one each toe at the dollar store it works good to put around the bobbin then put a golf tee through it and put it in the spool [ps that little foam thing works good for a pin cushion when i do binding as well
