Cleaned & Rearranged My Sewing Room Today! :)

3 Attachment(s)
I worked on my sewing room today, and hubby worked on his basement music studio! Both of our behinds are dragging now, and we're needing a 2nd wind! lol!!

Don't notice the unfinished wall, nor the 'car' wallpaper border! My youngest son's been moved out 4 years now, and I've still not redone the room! lol!!

Before I could hardly walk through it, and hubby was calling it 'the repair room', as he'd put (pile) anything needing sewn in there... But since I've just ordered a bunch of flannel from Joann's and have been on here a lot more lately, I had to get it so I'd want to be in there! ;)

The guitar applique hanging up is what I need to finish, so I can go onto others! Hubby plays the guitar & keyboards, and is in a couple of bands. I was totally tickled when I found the pattern on Pat Sloan's blog site! :) :)

edited: Don't notice my mess of 'stash' either! I keep hoping elves will come in the night and organize it all! ;)

Treasureit 11-26-2011 01:54 PM

Doesn't it feel good to get it cleaned up again? I always love the feeling when I do that.

Crlyn 11-26-2011 01:57 PM

Wonderful feeling when everything is nice and neat and in place.

Kathy Osterby 11-26-2011 02:52 PM

Looks like you have room to spread out lol. Do I see a Sunbonnet Sue in the making? Love your room.

Haha - one I started about 4 or 5 years ago and forgot I had until I just re-discovered it today! lol!!! :) I think I want to put another border on it to make it just a bit bigger, then quilt it up!

Airwick156 11-26-2011 03:13 PM

Is your design wall (where the guitars are) is that a plastic tablecloth with that flannel stuff backing? If it is, that is a GREAT IDEA.

MollieSue 11-26-2011 03:41 PM

Yeap, that's a cheapy flannel backed tablecloth from the Dollar General store. :)

Here's the link to the guitar wallhanging, in case anyone else would like it!
http://pbtex.com/html/beboppat.html I've had a couple pm me for it..... I'm really not liking doing the sashings though, so tedious to do! :(

Fabriholic 11-26-2011 03:59 PM

It always helps to have your stuff organized so you can put your hands on it. Plus it looks nice! Happy Quilting!

It always feels good to get things how you want them to be. I hope you will enjoy being in your room now. Love the guitar quilt in progress.

caspharm 11-27-2011 01:59 PM

Looks good. I need to reorganize mine.

Sewfine 11-27-2011 03:36 PM

You have lots of space to be creative. Love the Sunbonnet Sue. Do I see a doll bed witha quilt for it.

Ginny B 11-27-2011 05:29 PM

It looks like a very cozy space to create in. Enjoy and if those elves show up, let me know and I'll send my address to you to pass it on to them.

Jingle 11-27-2011 06:57 PM

Looks great.

Very nice sewing room! What an interesting place for me to visit! I also have an old treadle machine (minus the machine) and would like to strip the wood desk off and just use the iron stand. What did you top it with? It looks like marble in the photo. I bet it makes a really sturdy table. I would like to use it for my serger.

AUQuilter 11-28-2011 03:56 AM

Glad you got your sewing room to create! Looks like you have a great space.

born2bfree67 11-28-2011 05:25 AM

i love that hutch. if you don't mind, may i suggest adding a fabric skirt around the table it sits on. also, the wall that is missing sheet rock, you can use white peg board and you have multiple uses from shelving to a designer wall. good job at organizing. happy holidays.

so-sew 11-28-2011 05:55 AM

Cleaning and organizing is not a process I enjoy....but, oh, how nice to have it all put in order! Good work.

Thank you! Yes, that's a marble top on the tredle stand! A dear older quilter gave it to me, along with some of her old ufos, and the wooden spool thread holder I have hanging on the wall. I had enough wooden spools to fill it from estate auctions, etc. :)

Thank you! I hadn't thought of adding a fabric skirt to the folding table! Would make it look much nicer! :)

And pegboard would be ideal for that wall! :) It used to have that bedroom's closet there, but we removed the small coat closet from the other side, to make the living room a bit bigger.... And my icky ex never finished it. Can't do anything permanent with it, except for putting the closet back in, as we're planning on selling this house in a year or two, and will need to make it back into a bedroom for that. Pegboard would make an excellent temp fix until we fix it all correctly again for selling! :) :)

Now if only I'd get my butt in there sewing.... I'm hating working on that checked sashing for the quitar quilt! lol!!!!

MistyMarie 11-28-2011 10:34 AM

Oh to have a sewing room to organize! Yours looks so nice.

carolynjo 11-28-2011 02:39 PM

Love the guitar wallhanging!

toi123 11-28-2011 03:47 PM

I noticed your Sun Bonnet Sue quilt in the one picture. I have the exact same pattern quilt done in my upstairs bedroom, only I used peachy shaded sashing and some semi-pastel colors. It's for my daughter, who is now pregnant with her son. I may keep it awhile longer, yet. . . ;)

JUNEC 11-28-2011 05:07 PM

What a great looking sewing room - If the fabric folding elves ever show up, please send them my way when they are done with your stash
Love your space

ging10ging 11-28-2011 07:04 PM

Why is it I clean up after projects but the room gets messed up again at the start of another project. I like the SBS she cute. It's fun to find things we forget about. Looks nice. Sue

Chicca 11-29-2011 06:16 AM

With all of your wonderful wall hangings, knick knacks and pictures....your room looks so wonderful homey and comfortable!! I totally understand about needing and wanting it organized though; I spent time this summer getting mine all in tip top organization. Absolutely love it. Thanks for sharing and have a great time creating in your sewing room!

rusty quilter 11-29-2011 04:02 PM

Looks like you are getting there, "One piece at a time"!

Claire123 12-28-2020 07:58 PM

Your sewing space is in far better shape than mine. I have so much hidden under quilt tops that need to be finished. There is a path however. You have to feel great getting so much finished. Congratulations

Quiltah Mama 01-04-2021 07:59 AM

You do realize MollieSue has not posted since 2015.

mcadwell 01-08-2021 06:05 PM

Awesome job on getting it more organised. Kudos to you-dos!
