Computer Website Maintenance
It just took an hour to update my pictures, subscriptions and other things having to do with quilting. And I have only quilted a few things since I stored this stuff the first time. How do you keep up?

I don't!! LOL

I do it once and a while every year. but I still have to many to go through.
the same goes with what I printed and kept in a large binder. I will never have time to do everything I kept as reference or on my "to do " list oh well! one thing at a time I guess. |
Hi ! I download and save all my quilting patterns, etc. to one specific file folder on my computer. I usually just call it Quilts 2015, using the current year at the end of the file. Then when I save items on the computer I put them in this folder. I also go to the beginning of the file name and place a "tag" such as quilt, table runner, placemats, etc. So I can keep them in the same group when I view the directory. At the year's end I write all the files to a CD and mark with the year. Then when I get bored or decide to look for something I can view the discs one by one or carry them and share them with other quilters. I hope this helps.

One week last year, I sorted my quilting, embroidery and sewing 'stuff' and then started putting them in large 3" 3-ring binders using those clear plastic sheets. For quilting alone, I ended up with 'purchased quilt patterns' in one binder, 'other quilt patterns' in another, 'projects' in another, 'how-to' in another and etc. Oh, my goodness...it took me longer to again categorize as I put them in the binders..... and now a year later, I have another pile to be sorted. I finally put an end to quilting magazine subscriptions and currently stopping the BLOCK one. When I first started quilting 30 years ago, I purchased one magazine and book after another and don't use them to the fullest capability so figured I better stop. Besides, there are a lot of freebies on internet now and many new shortcuts since then. Times change, but my paperwork keeps building up!!! I still like looking through the pages. To each his own.

Don't...I know I should...

I don't. God didn't put an ounce of organization skills in my DNA.
