Craigslist Customized sewing table

Thanks to my DH for following several sets of instructions printed out for him to make this sewing table for my sewing room. I have three machines that I use. A Brother SQ 9050, Singer Featherweight, and a Singer 301A. All three fit in the table with height adjustments so each machine table top fits flush with the table itself. What a guy! I found the table and brought it home. Showed him where I wanted the machines to sit on the table and left him alone. (He works much better alone!) He also had to adjust the height of the table by cutting off 1.5" from each leg. (I'm very short!)
Just brought the table into the room at 11pm so haven't had a chance to start sewing on it but will do so tomorrow when I start quilting my Table Runner Swap partner's table runner. I've also attached a pic of the way my sewing machine was originally set up. The plastic portable tables are adjustable but height settings were either too tall or too short. I had to scrunch my shoulders up and down when I quilted. By the time I finished quilting a t-shirt quilt, my back hurt so bad I couldn't sew for two days. I think this new table will be perfect. |
Looks good! Great sewing area!
Looks really nice. Bet it doesn't vibrate like on the plastic table.
He did good! Love your sewing area!
What a great table!! I would love to see all the pictures of your newly done room!! I also suffer from being height challenged and I found a kids desk works best for me, but I don't have a dedicated space.
I'm green with envy!! For the beautiful table and the handy hubby!! |
Looks great! Are you willing to loan him out? :)
He's done a wonderful job so go ahead and enjoy your space. I'm green with envy, my DH is absolutely useless at DIY!
Very nice, enjoy!!!!
Will attach pics for the rest of the sewing room shortly.

Great idea. I too am very short and find most tables are way too tall for me to cut on. Maybe I can motivate my guy.
Terrific table! Neat that your hubby is handy at this kind of thing~

I need to straighten my stash! I have material for valances for the window. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I love the wood of the table. Pretty. And your space is neat and cheerful. Hubby deserves an extra kiss or two.

Same here - my DH cannot even change a lightbulb and doesn't know the difference between a hammer and a screwdriver - maddening. |
He did a beautiful job. I am sure you will enjoy your new set up

Please share what type of flooring you have in your sewing room??? Wood, or laminate?? It is beautiful!
Hi Maggie-Sue -- the flooring is laminate -- we bought it at Home Depot. It was a lighter shade than I wanted but it was on sale and since this was the first floor we installed, we didn't want to spend a lot of money on it, worried about making cutting mistakes. We put down the same flooring in the bedroom opposite the sewing room so they would match. It's much darker so the lighter wood color brightens both rooms. Sure is a lot easier to pick up dropped pins on flooring than on rugs!

When I get home this evening I will take pics of the Featherweight and the Singer 301A in the sewing table. They fit like a glove too!
Awesome table and great space!!!
Hi - thanks for the nice words on the wall hangings. The 4 square quilt was the first one I did at my first beginning quilt class. The hanging with the flowers is actually counted cross-stitched flowers. I picked out the fabric and a friend quilted it before I took up learning to quilt. These are my favorites.

Nice machine and room...
I'm very envious!!! Thinking of doing the same thing but have no DH. Do You think I can do it? Hope so!!!
I love your table and the room looks so spacious I sure wish I had that big a room our computer desk is on one one of the room so I have to share it with DH. Great job that table looks great. Sue
Love your organized, lovely space. Your DH did a great job!! Finding a good sewing table is so hard especially if the room is small like mine. But I am happy with what I have
Great looking table. Like he quilts on the wall.
