OH i just saw your post. i would have loved to come and help you tote everything up those stairs. It would be nice to see Wisconsin again. That's where my Father was from. Hope you still love all your space. I too had lots of ufo tops. i decided to use some as backing on new tops!! voila, a new quilt.

Wonderful in every way. My sewing space is a converted family room in a walk out basement and I enjoy it so very much and spend time in it every day. I'm so blessed to be able to sew and quilt.

I try doing just a little at a time, so I don't get disgusted with my success.

For large tasks such as moving stash set a timer for 15 minutes, Work on it and then stop. Reward yourself with some stitching time if you like. If not, set the timer again for another 15 minutes.

I ruler fold fabric yardage on a 6 1/2 ruler, then fold in half and stack on shelf. They are typically sorted by color or collections. Yardage designated for a special project is tied together in a bundle and tagged with the project so I don't use it for something else. It still stacks nice on the shelf with other individual fabrics.

Smaller scrap pieces of fabrics are stored in the double scrapbook bins. These also fit charm packs or fat quarters. I starch and iron scraps so they are flat in the bin. For scraps just remove the horizontal dividers. Even the single bins work.

A small bin system would work also. This is a perfect time to determine your storage needs and start a new process that works for you. Have fun and let us help!
