I have a sew steady acrylic table that sits on my sewing cabinet. When I quilt it does hang up on the right corner of the sew steady table.

Hi QuiltE:
I have been trying to reply to your private message but I keep getting an error and it will not send. 😞 |
In my opinion, having the machine flush with the top of the cabinet is very important for smooth FMQ, if you are planning to do that. I would base my decision on any cabinet on that feature, alone. The cabinet I have came with an acrylic insert specifically made for my machine. When I purchased a new machine several years later I was able to order another insert from the same company to fit my new machine. The cabinet has a lift and the insert just fits around the machine making a flush surface.
Reading through this it sounds like a wonderful cabinet you are looking at. Surely they must be able to make a flush surface for you. |
Hi Suern3
Thank you for your comments. This was my concern too. The mother of the builder of the cabinets quilts and she says there isn’t an issue. I am going to take a quilt top and see how freely it moves and whether it will catch. I love the fact that I can sit directly in front of the needle of the sewing machine. |
