Fabric before and after w/comic boards.....
4 Attachment(s)
I have finally organized my fabric on comic boards. I have a limited space to keep my fabric. This is cabinets in my sewing room. I also have a couple of totes that I want to organize also. I bought the boards at a local comic book store, they were $10 for 100. I was told the whole board was acid free, so that is what I'm going with. The bottom shelf in one of the pics are the fat qtrs and the top shelf in the other was Xmas & seasonal fabric. Not decided if I will put the fat qtrs on boards or not. I'm thinking not because I don't think they will all fit on that one shelf. Also like the other ladies who have posted about these boards I too found fabric I forgot I had. It is so nice to be able to see what I do have. I have room for a few more and one of the local quilt shops is having a good sale. I was there Friday and it was 55% off on some and 30% off on others. Last Sat the 55% off, went to 70% off. I wasn't able to go on Saturday. Darn it!

Looks great...I've just started doing my fabric "collection"
Anxious to get started on my new shelving so I can see all of my fabric again....well, much of it anyway, You closet looks great.
I wish I had time to organize my fabrics. I know I have several pieces I forgot about.
It looks amazing! I like looking at the mini bolts to see if I have any fabrics the same. I have some of the red and white peppermints. If the left side bottom shelf is bright multi colored bunnies, I have some of that too. What fun!

looks very nice and neat

Great idea, I'd like to do the boards but I will have to get a shelving unit with doors Bc I have fluorescent lighting in my room and it fades my fabric over time. Also my curtains aren't light blocking. I think I'll keep my eyes peeled for a cabinet this spring & summer at yard sales :)

You did a great job. I'm only partially there, but hope someday to finish getting my fabric organized. Gotta say I love the comic boards.
You did a great job organizing all your beautiful fabrics. It will be so much easier to get to it.
Looks really pretty wish I could do that everything I have is in see through Tubs.
I love to just look at my material since i put it on boards.
Great job on organizing your stash, it looks really neat.
Terrific job!! Talk about a difference - organizing things sure neatens everything up. Great stash.
You did a great job and it looks super. I'm still wrapping and can hardly wait to get mine all done.
My aunt walked in and said: It looks like a quilt shop in here. Love that. :) I don't wrap my fat qtrs. I put them in baskets. They're already folded so nicely and take up less space than if I were to put them on boards. |
Your before pictures look better than mine does. I have the boards but have not done anything with them yet.
It looks great. I would love to have a cabinet.
We have solar screens on our windows, but I still try to keep the fabric away from the windows. |
that looks great. I need to explore and find a place in the craft room where I can do that too. Right now fabric isin bins which isn't all that bad considering there is a lot more than fabric packed up ....
Looks wonderful! Don't you just love it?
thanks ladies, I do love it and yes, I enjoy just looking at it. The cabinets are the old kitchen cabinets out of the kitchen when we did the remodel a few years back. My sewing room is small but I make it work.
great job, thanks for sharing

Step by step - 30 minutes by 30 minutes...getting started is the hard part. |
KAY NICE job - I could shop in your 'store' any day!
great job and I know it was time consuming...I'm trying to do the same.
Quite often the local fabric stores will give you the bolts that fabric comes on and you can cut them down to any size you want- and they are free. Just ask them for the think bolt holders (there are thick ones that are about 3/4" thick and the ones that are just a heavy piece of cardboard- these are the ones you want). Most often they will save them for you for a few days until you can get to pick them up.

Wow - so jealous!
Looks great... i just don't understand why quilters don't get organized!! and... but...if we all used our fabric the quilt stores would go out of business!!! Can't have that!!! it's amazing what we can find once we get it organized.. you did good!!!
Nice job! Really! I got probably 50% of mine on those same boards, did have about 90% til I bought a bunch more material! It is so fun just to see the fabric, thanks for posting!

Looks so nice and organized. I am working on my room and can't wait to get it organized. I have a ways to go yet.
I ordered my comic book backs about a week ago and am still waiting for them to arrive. I can't wait to start putting my fabric on them.
Don't you feel good knowing what you have?
Very nice and neat! If you get bored, you are welcome to come visit my stash anytime!....
Kay45, I love the way you have organized your fabric. You have inspired me to look into the comic boards. I see that they sell them in two sizes. What size did you use? I am really excited about getting started on organizing my stash.:)
Awesome job! It feels good to be organized, doesn't it?
