Finally! Hubby came thru bigtime...

That's right, I finally got my DH to actually get my wall of shelves made. Beings he had no choice, that is. As some of ya may know, I have received a TON of fabric from a family cleaning out their moms house and 3 storage sheds. The mom was a severe hoarder, of FABRIC!! That caused a serious problem here, as I just had no place to put even a quarter of it. But, just had to have as much as I could get. LOL!! The fabric dates from the late 50s up thru 1998. I am still washing, drying, & ironing it but this is my progress so far. I will update as I go along.
Thanks for all of you who have posted in this part of the forum, all ya'll are so inspiring and have given me the crazy idea that.. Yes! I can do this. Much love! First pic is before. Boxes under the sewing table are holding my "stash" before I started getting more. 2nd pic is during "remodel". The bags are the "new" fabric. There are 18 bags and 5 more boxes of this new stuff. 3rd pic is another view of my studio during all this chaos. Last pic is the clean slate wall that will become floor-to-ceiling shelves. |
Congratulations on getting the fabric and have fun organizing it on your shelves
Thanks crafty! I tell ya though, right now it's just a bit overwhelming. But ya know how it is.. "No pain, No gain". ;-)

You can do it girl. Just think of all the fun you are going to have with it.
You are going to have such a fun adventure with this fabric! And what a wonderful DH who understands the mind of a quilter. Yeah!!

Ok, here is last pic for few days I think. LOL!
These are the shelf units (2 of them) we made, with what looks like a measly stash on them. Funny, in boxes under the table it sure seemed like so much more. Now I am wondering if all this new stuff is even gonna fit! Alas, "don't worry babe" he says to me... "I can make another shelving unit out of the closet, if that's what ya need." Sometimes, ya just gotta love 'em. :) |
Sounds like Santa came to your house early this year!

Very Nice wish I had that much room in my sewing/craft room - you are truly fortunate - have fun sorting - it looks wonderful
Very nice. Your husband did a wonderful job! :)
WooHoo!! Now onto more organizing! Have fun!!
What a great space...and..DH too. LOL If you run out of space and need a place to "store" some of that fabric..I live just down the road on Rt. 66 west of Yukon. Hint, Hint. Have fun with both of your treasures.
What a great gift! Shelves are the least of the time and organization that will need to be done--but again---oh what a gift!
Good for you to get all the fabrics. Double good for you to get all the shelves. Triple good for you to have all that space for everything. Great for your Husband to make all the space for you.
very nice for sure ! Hubby did a good job !!
I will be just like Christmas when you unpack those bags and boxes. AND it seems that your DH is the Santa in this scenario. Enjoy!

Progress..

Yay, made tons of progress but still a ways to go before it's all done. This is so terribly cruel, the fabric calls to me 24/7, to make something, anything! LoL! I go and sit in there for periods of time and just imagine all the things I can make but refuse to start anything til it's all washed, ironed and shelved... or else that will never happen.
(2nd pic is what still needs washed) |
Wow.. WHAT A STASH !!!

I have been so busy the last few months and am happy to say I am down to the last 2 bags of fabric!! WoOt!
All I need to do is get these last bags ironed, folded and shelved and then I am done, done, done. Yay! My daughter has even offered to help me arrange what's already shelved into better color groupings once I am done with it all. Bless her heart, she has no idea that it will take a few hours to do this. LoL! Now if I can just figure out what to do with the 3 boxes/tubs of scraps next. I am thinking about a big purge of those, and donating it to other quilters in my area. Craigslist maybe? I don't know yet. |
GOLLY! You literally have a store full. You lucky duck. Have fun with all of it.
Great storage solution! Hubby needs a big pat on the back for this favor. What a nice guy.
Fabulous shelving! I like to be able to see everything. My DH would like me to "hide" it... I told him it's my room and he isn't required to visit!! He's also not handy but is terrific in so many other ways...
Hubby did a great job on those shelves! What fun to have space to display your treasures! :)
I love the progression photos. It gives me hope that someday I can get my disaster under control and looking good.
