The future home of my long arm.
I know it does not look like much now, but I'm really excited about it. Right now my longarm is in my dining room, and it's open to the rest of the house.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psdghou06z.jpg This was two buildings with a shared wall, we rebuilt the older section last year, and at the time did not plan on rebuilding this side. However after a lot of talking about the future plans to do quilting for hire, and my cat's love of my quilt frame - we decided to go this route. When done, this side will line up with the other side. It houses my vintage sewing machine collection (ok, half of my collection) so I hope to also move out my other half out too. |
And that is going to wonderful. I keep eyeing and older building we have on our property with a hmmmm oh the ideas lol

Good Luck with the building.

Lucky you! Looking forward to seeing the finished project.

It will be a fun space for you when it's finished! :)

That's going to be a very nice quilting space and also a great place for a Barn Quilt - even though its not technically a barn.

Cathy are you sure you're going to have enough space for your long arm with all those wonderful vintage machines? I hope you do, that view out the window is just beautiful! I am sure you will show us the complete project (please).

Going to be nice for the LA machine to have its own spacious room...

I'm so glad I found this thread. We are hoping to eventually move to a house across the state. We love the house and it is plenty big for us but none of the bedrooms are big enough for my longarm. We considered taking out a wall between the two, adding a sunroom to the one (won't work because of the snow roof) or building a shed/studio in the backyard. I've kicked this around for months now, but am concerned about two things. One is adequate heat, light, etc. for sewing. Second is not being able to just go down the hall to stitch in my robe. With our winter weather I would need to suit up and shovel to get there. Not easy to run for snacks and iced tea either. How did you address these issues?

It's going to be wonderful. What pretty views. Enjoy!
