I am going to get all the fabric off the floor before I go to bed tonight I swear. I did get the fabric out of the kitchen, except those 2 boxes I brought in from the garage. If any one lives close by send me a pm I will be getting rid of some of this.

Good luck. I need to start cleaning out a lot of mine that I know I will never use. But it is so hard to do.

Tartan 12-11-2011 11:36 AM

Good luck with your clean-up. Having company for the holidays is always a good motivation for me.

Peggy Jeanne 12-11-2011 12:44 PM

I am finishing a few Christmas projects and then I am getting started on my room. No telling what I'll find. Good luck!

where abouts in MT do you live? I live ne of Stanley. You sure do have a lot of fabric. I have mine in totes until dd gets home to help redo on the boards. I find that I have more room when I do this. I just use the cardboard from Joanns as they just have to take it out to the dumpster anyway. saves them a trip and if the fabric comes folded on it it should still be good to put it back on it to store. We don't know how long it has been on the cardboard til it gets to the store anyway.

Is Montana near Wisconsin?? LOL
I hear you there , just moved last year still getting things out of the garage so husband can set his things up .

good luck im in the same boat here gota get cleaning too....

Grandma58 12-12-2011 12:02 PM

I am in Helena. Keep in mind this is not cotton quilting fabric. It is good for all kinds of other things though and I use it for art quilts, but if the pieces are too big I get bored with it. I have too much and need to purge once in awhile.

This fabric is taken!

Good for you - what an inspiration!

Looks like a creative mind has been at work.

Hope you were successful!

I think we have the same black shelving unit (top center of second photo). I LOVE mine! Very easy for ME to put together - without anyone's help. Been wanting to build shelves out of lumber but never got around to it.

angelahen 12-13-2011 09:44 AM

What's wrong with it on the floor - makes you look busy!

Grandma58 12-13-2011 09:45 AM

I love the cubicles, black only which does not distract from the colors of the fabric. The are so easy to assemble and one can add to them. They also contain the fabric well which I love. The heck with wood shelves, the wood takes up fabric space.

How did your studio floor turn out?

Grandma58 12-13-2011 11:27 AM

I am still working on it and will post a new pic in a day or two - it will be clean I swear.

Why? Doesn't your studio have a door? }:0)

mountain deb 12-13-2011 04:33 PM

Good grief, I thought I was looking at my room. lol I need to get off of the computer and put down my book before I begin to do my chores.

BarbaraSue 12-13-2011 07:39 PM

I need to continue the picking up and putting away. I'm in the process of organizing, so the putting away is not always easy. My DD also has part of her stash here, and a machine. So she is in on the organizing. Something has to help. We need to "find " the table.
good luck on your cleaning!

Grandma58 12-13-2011 07:40 PM

A door? Why would I have a door? LOL! My studio, my most wonderful awesome studio was the living room of the people who lived here before me. The tiny little what could have been a bedroom is the living room and it has a door.

This is so funny, I'm sorry I should explain. We do live in Az but my son lives in Mt with family. I could just hear my DDIL if I invaded her with my fabric. They do want us to move up there to be closer just don't know if they could handle my stash(he, he)

Grandma58 12-15-2011 07:34 AM

Some folks just do not understand about fabric. Ha!

Wish I lived closer, wait what am I talking about, I'm out of room myself! lol.

michelehuston 12-30-2011 03:48 AM

I think we are all in need of some serious studio cleanup! My fabric is finally around boards tho!

Grandma58 12-30-2011 09:02 AM

I decided to start another star quilt complete with tutorial instead of finishing the floor, maybe later.

LOL! I thought I was only one who needed to cleanup and organise...sew glad to know that I'm not. I moved into the largest room in the house, the family room, and still have fabric and goodies in boxes and in the spare bedroom. The best thing is I can get on both sides of my sewing table to work now. We made the table out of a full sheet of plywood with 4x4 legs, I made about 1/3 of it into an ironing area! Also put a full sheet of latice board up to use as storage for rulers, rotary cutters etc. I will have to post pics.

my DD was home for a week over the holidays and we did get all my fabric onto boards and into totes so that I can at least see what I have. I plan on getting shelving put up in the small bedroom that I use as an office and then I can store onto the shelves. will need to have son in law hel0p me when he gets some time. he is quite a handy man with the saw and hammer and nails. He did most of the work rebuilding his house after the flood last summer in Minot. They are not doing the basement at this time in case it should flood again and he said they will sandbag this time. Might never have gotten as bad as it did if they would have done some sandbagging. I will need to go to Joanns for some more bolt boards as I have used all up that I had and cut it into quarters. Really neat. stand up straight in a row in the totes and I got some emptied if you can believe that. Wow! fogot to take pics of before and after. More upstairs when summer comes.

I love the black wire cubicles for containing fabric. Progress is good.

Quilt guilds are always looking for fabric for charity quilts. The guild I belong to make habitat for humanity quilts, baby quilts, doll quilts, and numerous other quilts and is always looking for donations. Do you have a guild near you to donate to.
