Thank you to everyone who provided inspiration to get my rest in motion! I spent the day on getting areas ready for work in my small workspace/guest bed. This is my Happy place!! I really liked how it came out. Any suggestions? I'm all ears...

I'm very impressed! You only have to leave for food and bathroom breaks!! Wish I could get my sewing room that neat, but I can't unless I throw out half of everything or buy a new house.

Neuras 12-28-2016 10:12 PM

You're too kind Margaret! Thank you

Wonderful sewing space! Good job getting it organized.

I really enjoy seeing pics-- gives me some ideas for ways to make my happy place more user friendly.

You've organized your sewing space very nicely, especially given the size of space you have. It looks very cozy and inviting.

lots2do 12-29-2016 05:13 AM

Great job! Now you can get busy with the fun stuff...creating!

Beachbaby12 12-29-2016 06:20 AM

I think you did a great job - be proud of your accomplishment in organizing everything so nicely!

Tartan 12-29-2016 06:27 AM

Looking good! The only suggestion I have is, add brackets in the middle of your fabric shelves.

farmquilter 12-29-2016 07:05 AM

Love the scissor storage rack, cleaver idea, best keep an eye out for one for my room.

I see you have your sewing machine on the workbench from Harbor Freight. I have put a big board ironing board on mine and love it. Lots of neat ideas!

Good morning Tartan, could you clarify? My mind is still in a fog... thank you!

barny 12-29-2016 09:26 AM

Boy, It looks like you have done a perfect job. It looks like you can just sit and sew and iron, all of the stuff you need to do. So nice.

Tartan 12-29-2016 10:24 AM

If you look at the picture of the shelf with the fabric, you can see a bow starting in the center. Fabric is heavy and an extra bracket will make it more secure.

tessagin 12-29-2016 11:47 AM

I saw that and thought the same. Looks great.

Wonderful job of organization!!

You must be so pleased to have things so organized. Good job!

I would recommend taking the labels off the fat quarters in the baskets (first pic?) - if they sit on the fabric too long, they may leave a residue or a mark.

Also, is the table to the right of your sewing machine (ironing area maybe?) - does that top lift off for some reason? It looks like it has a handle along the edge..... wondering if there is a multi -purpose thing going on here???

What a cozy and dreamy place to create in. You have a few thousand $ worth of thread there. Lovely to just peruse your little room.
peace

Yes, that is actually a solid wood changing table my hubby affixed a wooden top to for me to use as an ironing board. I set the cover in the wash before taking the pic. It has 2 drawers plus the entire "top" section for storage. Thanks for noticing!

How often is that guest bed used? We recently had to make a decision about our huge sofa bed and its history now. If no one uses it on a regular basis, donate it, your sewing room can use that space.

quiltingranny 12-30-2016 08:53 AM

What a great sewing space. Everything looks perfect......a very efficient use of space. You did an awesome job!

Neuras 12-30-2016 09:08 AM

I'd love to, but it's kept available for my MIL so...

JanieH 12-30-2016 11:44 AM

Love your sewing room. You have given me a lot of ideas for mine. Your scissors rack is really unique!

SewingSew 12-30-2016 11:53 AM

Your sewing room looks great. I would like to get my hands on your thread. It is the first thing I noticed. And if you get tired of sewing, you have a place to take a nap. Perfect!

Neuras 12-30-2016 12:47 PM

You guys can come over to my happy place whenever you'd like!

QuiltnLady1 12-30-2016 01:15 PM

Your sewing room looks great. Love your thread collection and your scissor holder. I agree on reinforcing the shelves the fabric is on.

amyjo 06-17-2018 07:17 PM

I would get heavy duty shelving for fabrics. I plan on using real wood for my shelves not particle board covered laminate. I had two that busted right in half from fabric weight. I use shelf liner under my fabric and never had a problem with that

SillySusan 06-18-2018 12:52 AM

Wow! Wonderful organization! I wish I had 10% of your organizing skill! Enjoy!

Love you sewing space, especially the Gone Quilting sign and the metal scissor holder. It's the little touches that make a space totally yours. I too must keep a bed in my sewing space, and since your husband seems to be pretty handy you might check out how my husband made my cutting/ironing table over a day bed. Then when I need the bed it folds back up against the wall. Just something I thought you might be interested in.

Looks like a very wonderful organized place. I could hide out there all day long!!!
