Me too! And I wondered why you'd need to store them, how long can it possibly last?!?! LOL :D

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a cake mix and a cake basket? I've not heard of them; from my cursory googling, it looks like a cake mix involved foundation paper?

A layer cake is a 10" square of fabric. Jenny Doan on MSQC has them. Her double slice quilt calls for layer cakes.

I thought a layer cake referred go the whole pack, like a jelly roll is all the fabrics in a line. Not a single 10” square. So what is a cake mix and cake basket?

A Longaberger cake basket is 12 inches square and 6 inches tall with 2 swinging handles. Perfect for carrying a cake or 2 pies with a wooden riser, or storing layer cakes :D.

I probably have every Longaberger basket made in the 90's. :D
That sounds like a great idea for one!
