mariatherese 12-27-2013 02:16 AM

Neat! I would really need something similar. Looks a bit like the IKEA child furniture.

noveltyjunkie 12-27-2013 02:29 AM

Neat! Did it need cross bracing on the back?

sustraley 12-27-2013 03:58 AM

coopah 12-27-2013 05:26 AM

Wonderful! Bet he could sell those...if he wanted to have more work!! That is just awesome. My dad used to make anything I wanted, but my husband is a metal guy and won't work with wood. You are soooooo blessed!

I would love for my husband to build me something similar. If your husband would be willing to share plans, or at least basic instructions it would be much appreciated! What types of totes did you buy to fit it?

wolph33 12-28-2013 05:00 AM

that is awesome,he is a keeper

joyce888 12-28-2013 07:59 AM

WOW--thats great.

What luck! I'm about to start a major clean up of my quilting room and your DH (and he is definitely "dear") has provided me with a plan. If my regular handy man can make the time I intend to have him make one for me. Right now I can hardly get into the room for all the stuff including a lot of stuff not even related to quilting. I've just started a weight loss and exercise regimen so it should be an all around improvement effort.

WOW! That is a wonderful place to store fabric. Can your husband come live with us for awhile??!!! I was trying to organize my fabric the other day and I think my stash just grows as I sleep!!!! I need something to organize my bad habit.

Rose L 12-30-2013 09:50 AM

What a timely post this is for me!! I spent all day yesterday on various websites searching for a book case with dimensions that would hold my totes to no avail. This is absolutely the ticket!! I hope you won't mind me pinning the picture so I can share it with my wood working Uncle. This holds 18 totes and that is EXACTLY how many I have and need for all my fabrics which I sort by color!

michelleoc 12-30-2013 03:47 PM

Oh, my goodness, that is so cool!

StephT 12-30-2013 08:54 PM

all he did as measure the totes and then ran it through his table swaw with the blade that makes the marks. Sorry I can't tell you what it is called. LOL and the totes I got at WAL-Mart and they are the Stackable totes by Sterilite. They have no lids. He put some 1/4 plywood in the back. I love it.

Country1 12-31-2013 09:17 AM

Well, aren't you special? LOL Seriously, Looks great! He done a wonderful job. Don't you just love a handy man?

cowgirlquilter 01-04-2014 06:45 PM

Yipeeeeeeee, this looks great!

amyjo 01-04-2014 06:55 PM

Looks great but is it going to hold all that weight from the fabric without breaking the edges of the containers? I think I would probably have something under each one to help hold it in the tracks. My sterlite has cracked on the edges, that is why I ask. When wood bows, from fabric setting on it in small rows, it has to break somewhere.

Mamaskeeto 01-04-2014 07:11 PM

Great idea!
