My new "Ruler Corral"

I mentioned to my sweet husband that my rulers were always on the table in my way, or inaccessible in a drawer. He built me this great corral for them.

He's a keeper!

I just hang mine from a peg board

QuiltnLady1 02-07-2017 02:06 PM

What great ideas -- I don't have any edges that would work. Mine live on my pegboard for now, too.

Tartan 02-07-2017 02:13 PM

Well done!

Brilliant! On two counts. That is a great storage solution, and of course Every husband's favorite saying, Happy wife, happy life!

I like this. They are handy and yet out of the way. I could use about 3 of these.

lindaschipper 02-08-2017 04:38 AM

I wish he could come up with something for all of my small templates, my larger rulers are kept in an old letter file. I actually have too many large rulers and an wanting to sell some of them. Sometimes you just have to down size!

jmoore 02-08-2017 04:40 AM

What a creative idea...you're lucky he's handy. Your rulers look quite happy in their new home.

Wanabee Quiltin 02-08-2017 05:29 AM

Rulers are always a problem. I keep small ones in a drawer and the larger ones in a metal desk file organizer I bought at a thrift store. I really like the way your DH fixed your problem. He's a keeper.

tessagin 02-08-2017 05:42 AM

That's great especially for the long ones.

tranum 02-08-2017 09:31 AM

Such a great use of vertical space.

mac 02-08-2017 09:41 AM

Yep, he's a keeper.

jamsbuying 02-08-2017 09:48 AM

Perfect! He is a sweetie!

As Feline Fanatic says "he's a keeper"......wanna share? Very nice ruler corral!!!

annette1952 02-08-2017 10:40 AM

That is a great idea! Always handy & they have a home too when not in use. Mine hang on the wall but someday I hope to have a better set up for everything in my sewing room.

sJens 02-08-2017 02:53 PM

That is fantastic.

Very nice! I pounded nails in the closet and hung mine 😀

Sandygirl 02-09-2017 04:12 AM

Brilliant! Might need to do this to the ends of my rolling cutting table.

Great idea!!

JanieH 02-09-2017 07:15 AM

Fantastic idea! I definitely want to try to make one of these, unless you loan out your husband?

bjsmith57 02-09-2017 11:08 AM

Very nice...thanks for sharing.

Jordan 02-09-2017 02:00 PM

WOW! How lucky you are to have a great handy husband. I like that corral idea.

daisydebby 02-10-2017 02:58 AM

How sweet of him:)

kittiebug 02-10-2017 07:16 AM

I like that ...

I have a slotted wooden template holder. For longer rulers and my larger items, I use over the door hooks -- each hook can hold several items and the door is propped open.

KLO 02-11-2017 12:43 PM

Have to show this to my husband and then find a place for it. It really does look like it will keep all those long rulers in place. Nice!

patski 02-13-2017 12:36 PM

I just found a wrapping station at The container store, it has the side holder that is adjustable I use mine for stabilizer but I think it would work for rulers too! It also have 5 pull out baskets, all that for $132.00

charlottequilts 02-13-2017 07:40 PM

My DH, who's not normally good at wood-working, made me a beautiful rack by taking a short board from the cellar, buying a 1x4 (I think), cutting it, and screwing/gluing it to the base board to make "dividers"'that hold a few rulers each. It's lovely and was fairly cheap and easy to make with really basic tools. The one I kept seeing online was a mere 4" deep and had slots made with a router. Without a router, he went to building up a few "curbs," and it looks good and works beautifully.

hugs,
Charlotte
