My Quilting Space
9 Attachment(s)
I live in military post housing so the rooms are tiny. I turned one room into my sewing room when my son moved out. It took me months to organize everything. I use comic boards and empty bolts from my LQS. I am realy grateful to them because they were more than happy to collect them for me. The table came from IKEA and it cost $50. It is two sided and it folds to something tiny that can slide under my bed. Amazing! The Viking 500 is a loaner from Tirolgirl on the board. It has European voltage and I love it. The strips are scraps I usually cut up after a project. I cut most of the 1.5 strips at Torilgirl's house one evening and ended up making about 32 log cabin blocks when I got home. I love Tirogirl's log cabin quilts. The Featherweight I brought from a member of the board along with a 99K that is not shown. The machines are in excellent condition. I love them too. These pictures were from a month ago so my sewing space no longer looks like this. Stuff is everywhere but oh well...

very nice. I like how organized you are. I've done that too and get lots more sewing done.
Hope you get lots of thanks for being part of our forces |
Wow, very nice room. It amazes me how fast we can fill a room up, but yours looks great and a nice variety of fabrics.
Ohhhh! Your sewing room looks great, so neat and organized.
Wow, I love your organization ideas. The labeled bins for scraps are a great idea. Might just copy that if you don't mind. Every thing in your room looks so great.
Awesome, beautiful space to craft in. I'm sure it helps to be organized in tight quarters. Great job! :)
You made it work for you and that is what counts.
Boy, that looks like a large space to me!lol Lots of fabric and wonderful organization. I wish you could come help me as I have a huge spot and don't know how to organize it better. Great job.
Goog job! you made this room look a lot bigger than you described. So well organized and such a big stash. I am envious! Congratulations!
I just love your sewing room! Your stash is so beautifully organized. What a great, inspiring place to work!
Very nice room. Just the way I like it - neat & tidy.
Wonderful space! Thanks for sharing.
You have done a beautiful job but do you not worry about light & dust on all those fabulous fabrics? (Not saying you have a dusty house) I'd really be interested because I find cutting creates dust.
First, thank you for your service to our country. Military housing can be tiny but you have certainly set up a great system that works for your space. I like your scrap bins and you have a very pretty stash.
I can just see ideas popping when you walk into your room!! Beautiful and organized.

I'd like to thank you and yours for their service to our country. Military families have to sacrifice so much. Your sewing room is very well organized.

You really know how to organize!!!! That is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
way to go  Looks like you know how to really pack a space and make it look nice. Love your table.
Not sure we have an Ikea here. I'll have to ask my dd...guess that makes you and enabler, lol :D |
The labeling idea came from Tirolgirl. Now SHE has a STASH. A whole apartment dedicated to quilting. I LOVE her quilting rooms. Her quilts are amazing! I cover my exposed fabric with quilts in progress when I am not in the room. It works for me. Also, fabric does not stay in one place long enough to fade because I give lots away, swap and buy. The best place to get a good variety of different prints is from fabric.com's 3 pound remnants for $19.98, thrift stores and estate sales. Goodwill.com is excellent and the bids are almost always low.

Gee, that doesn't look like such a small room. You've done wonders making it look spacious. Love your organization and fabic collection. Now have fun sewing.
You did a great job, that's what I need to do, thank you for sharing
Wow -I'm impressed - thanks for sharing.

Love your room! Love your stash! Love your ideas!! Why is it I don't see anything stacked in front of things! I have stacks on top, in front, and under everything. And right now I'm working on a quilt and have had to move to my mom's house to spread things out. Also use our bed, but have to move things out for the night. Not a good thing. You could give lessons. Thank you for your ideas and, most of all, thank you for your sacrifices. God bless you and yours.
I wish I could be as neat as you are! Great use of space.
Very nice and beautifully organized. I bet you love it! Dianne

Wonderful organization! I recognize that camo backpack. My DSIL let me take one home when we visited last summer and he was off to the "sand box". It has a broken clip somewhere, so he got a new one. That puppy holds a LOT! He has since retired from AF, but I'm happy to have the souvenir. So glad quilting helps you with the stresses of military life. You deserve the best.
