My Ribbon Storage Solution

1 Attachment(s)
I am in the process of reorganizing all my sewing and quilting supplies. They will all go in a small 9 1/2' x 9 1/2' bedroom so I am looking for compact storage solutions. This is what I am doing with all my ribbon. I have tried all kinds of methods of storing ribbon and this morning I saw a photo using purchased Ribbon Rings. Well, I don't want to get dressed, etc. and get out to try to find these and I need something today, so I cut up a plastic milk container into small squares and rectangles - cut 2 or 3 slits in each one and am threading the ribbon through the slits. Don't know where I will hang these yet, but they can't take up THAT much room. I don't know how many yards I have already done, but a LOT. Have a lot to go. Maybe someone else out there will like this idea.

great idea... if you tuck it away then you don't know what you have or don't have.

Great idea! Not only are you organizing but you are recycling. If I could get into my sewing room (husband has moved all this unfiled papers for the last umpteen years in there), I might just try this for my ribbons.

I like your idea a lot. Here is what I have done with mine. They are on tensions rods. Before I had them all stored in boxes and this is so much easier to see and select.

Kitseykeel - I have the same Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls - made one set and still have the panel left for another set. Like the way you have your ribbon - both of you. Great ideas.

try hanging them on peg board. then they would be handy, or on a jewelry hanger free standing.

I love your idea with the milk carton plastic. At first I thought they were the bread bag clips. Thanks for the info!

I probably have 100 rolls, spools of ribbon. I purchased a 12 ft length of plastic guttering for a house at home depot and cut it into 2 peices (super easy to cut) and screwed it into the wall almost at ceiling level (mostly wasted space) and it holds all of my ribbon. I love it and I use my stepstool to access it. A friend of mine did the same thing and she just lets the ends of all the ribbon hang over enough that she can reach it and pull it down to cut off peices as needed. I can't take credit for this idea as I saw it on a blog somewhere and copied it. It really works well and holds many different sizes of ribbon spools.
